❛ there's no length i wouldn't go if it was you i had to save. ❜ :3c
The air around them is quiet and still. A few fireflies blink on and off around the grass. The crickets sing their little songs of temperature and warnings and mating, the usual serenades of the night. Some frogs croaked on the banks of a distant creek. Some deer ran through the underbrush of the forest that grew to the left. On a highway far to the right, the headlights of a lonely car cut through the darkness.
The perfect night for the two of them to just relax. They didn't get a lot of moments like this. Logan's got his eyes closed and his arms behind his head. His breathing is slow, relaxed, peaceful. The conversation had hit a natural lull. Logan was pretty near dozing when Herc spoke up.
"There's no length I wouldn't go if it was you I had to save."
Logan looks over at him, blinking. It's a loaded statement, but he knows Herakles well enough to know he doesn't say a damn thing he doesn't mean with his full chest. He can feel a faint heat rising to his cheeks and is grateful for the darkness that conceals it. A part of him wants to argue - he's fine, he doesn't need to be saved, he's not worth the effort- but he doesn't want to ruin the moment. Instead, he just smiles and looks back up at the sky, reaching over to bump his knuckles against Herc.
"Right back at'cha. Any time, no matter what."
