Sometimes I feel like I can't catch my breath, my heart starts racing, my hands are tingling, I can't focus, I feel slightly nauseous and lightheaded. All of that makes me feel extremely afraid, vulnerable, and self-conscious. Sometimes, I imagine dying. I close my eyes and visualize my last breath. I imagine that my consciousness no longer exists. I'm free. I'm done. There's no more suffering. Then my breath starts slowing, and the tears stop flowing. My body stops trembling. My thoughts aren't pacing. For a brief moment, it's as if it were happening. Finally, I feel the elusive sensation of peace.
