Patty Hates Time
So we were playing a nice little game of Magic, trying out a few new decks.
My newest deck was a reworking of an older one, which includes several extra turn spells, Paradox Haze, Energy Chamber, a few charge counter artifacts like golem foundry, Panoptic Mirror, and other sort of things.
Patty tried out a Sultai-centric self-mill deck that just generated zombies. Not entirely sure what she was going for, but it was pretty effective. Honestly, I wouldve just gone with Innistradi skaab building.
But anyways, I got infinite turns and she proceeded to hit me with a pillow.
Arbitrary Card of the Day 11-7-13: Panoptic Mirror
So just for funsies I'm going to start a little feature to do every day called Arbitrary Card of the Day. The premise is simple: go to Gatherer, click "Random Card," and write a little reaction blurb to the card that appears. As Magic: The Gathering is a game with tens of thousands of unique cards, I figured this would be a fun way to encounter cards even I might not know about and expose all you folks to them too.
And the inaugural card is Panoptic Mirror. Figures that I write mostly about Commander and the first card in this series is one of the few banned in the format. Oh well.
I had a lot of fun with Panoptic Mirror when I started playing Magic. I had a Blue artifact deck assembled that hardly anyone could beat (because Mirrodin block was broken). One of the ways it won was by imprinting Beacon of Tomorrows onto Panoptic Mirror and just taking infinite turns until I won. Which was really mean of me. Sorry, anyone who lost to that. Talrand's deck in Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013 also contained a Panoptic Mirror. It was also capable of taking infinite turns. Now you know why it's banned in Commander!
