fight : my muse stops your muse from getting into a physical fight with someone else.
“Woah woah woah, break it up! Back off!” Anyil flung herself between the two, shoving each one back with one hand; the man’s face held smugness and hot rage in equal measure, but the look in Thera’s eyes was enough to give Anyil chills, just a little. She shot the oblivious fool a glare and a snarl, and he smiled at her, tight-lipped, as he whirled around and departed. Now for the more difficult part.
“Thera, I don’t know what he said, but murder is still illegal,” she murmured, turning to face her friend, hands spread in a placating gesture. “And there are other, less obvious ways of getting even. Why don’t we go have a drink and talk about some of those?”
'Bogart Snape'. Why am I picturing him in a sharp suit and panama hat mixing potions behind a Casablanca bar? 'Here's ... /watching/ you, kid.'

Claire joining forces with Helen Cho ...
// OMG YES. Between Claire’s inherent understanding of enhanced cells and Helen’s life-long study of recreating cells, they’d be the perfect team to recreate Erskine’s formula. And imagine that. A formula originally created by a German during WWII is recreated by two women of color. Like, tell me that is not a story for the 21st century. Tell me that does not deserve a quiet mention in the Infinity War movies. Maybe not that they’ve reached it, but that they’re working on it. That they’re close. That one day we may have more Captain Americas to defend our countries.
Basically I just want Claire Temple and Helen Cho to get 10,000,000 times the accolades they already get.
(And then we get the fun story of the two of them finally realizing Erskine’s lost formula, looking at the current state of superheroes, and actively destroying it and all their research so it can’t be used, and how the Avengers are split over villifying them or praising them for keeping the new serum out of mankind’s hands. Cap is of course on the side of ‘ew serum no’, along with Sam and Bucky, while Tony and Vision and Rhodey are on the side of ‘excuse me serum yes’. Wanda and Clint abstain from the fight and refuse to get involved because ‘this has nothing to do with me’ (or ‘this has everything to do with me’). Scott sides with Cap. Natasha is stuck in the middle trying to make peace between both sides. )

'make sure they’re not mary sues and make sure they’re not out to just ship. why the hell aren’t those standards applying to canons?' This.
// Like omfg yes. I’ve seen canon muses that are so clearly influenced by the mun’s personality that if they were an OC everyone would be screaming “SELF INSERT!!!!!!” I’ve seen canon muses that deviate so far from canon in every conceivable way that the only thing they share with the canon character is a face and a name - and people praise them for being brilliant. In fact, there’s a popular post that crosses my dash every other week or so about how canon muses don’t have to stick to canon, and anyone who criticizes them for not following canon is an asshole.
I’ve seen people playing canons place an outright call for specific characters for the sole purpose of shipping, and no one says a word. I see canon muses who play with 18 different versions of the same canon character, usually playing out some form of the same ship with most of them, and no one says a word. Yet when I, an OC, play with more than 2 of the same muse I am accused of ‘collecting’ muses of a particular character, and being in it ‘just to ship with [insert character here]’.
I’m not saying what canon muses do is wrong. What I’m saying is that it’s bullshit that canon muses are held to no standards whatsoever - not even to the standard of keeping to canon - while OCs have to jump through a dozen hoops to prove they’re not ‘Mary Sues’ and need a notarized document proving 12 licensed experts have certified that they’re not in it just for the ship in order to be able to play with a single canon muse.
Stop. Acting. Like. Playing. A. Canon. Muse. Makes. You. Better.
