It's already been a year since I started and abandoned my Christmas PapaIsa fic! In light of that.... Never getting finished, have some headcanons about the Kawara family's Christmas festivities:

Christmas has always been a big deal to Ryuuji, as we all know. He's been known to go above and beyond in both celebration and gifts, and since his family has grown recently, with the addition of Isa (he goes by Utsuro now again) and the twins, he's felt he had to step up his game.

The celebration was about as grand as they could fit in their middle-class income and small suburban home. Atheist Utsuro had never actually participated in a holiday party on this scale, but he wasn't necessarily complaining. It made Ryuuji happy, at least, and that in turn made him happy. The decorations were kind of ugly though.

You know that thing that kids do in movies where they jump on the parents' bed and go "it's christmas, it's christmas"? Miru and Kaku do that for a whole week before the 25th.

Since Ryouta's mom is Buddhist, his custody works out where he always spends Christmas with his dads. One year he even brought his boyfriend, Sakuya, to his family's party.

Sakuya thought it was rather. Quaint. Nothing like the fancy party he was used to at the mansion. But it was nice, at least, much more homey than his family could ever be. Plus, they had a piano in the corner, that's all he really needs.

What wasn't so nice was the twins crowding him, constantly demanding he play Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy because "that's daddy Utsuro's favorite song!"

As for presents, Ryuuji loves just smothering his lovely family in material objects. Ryouta's pretty used to it by now, but Utsuro is rather surprised by the sheer amount of stuff in his pile, this being his first Christmas as a Kawara. Ryuuji even gets some things for Sakuya.

Ryuuji's best gift for Utsuro isn't something he can give him in front of the kids, though

It was a mistake getting Miru and Kaku a chemistry set, as they discovered early in the morning on December 27th.

But destroyed kitchen aside, there isn't a thing Ryuuji would change. Christmas was always his favorite day of the year, and well, if he got to spend with family, that was two, three, four times the fun, wasn't it? 🎄🎁

Replaying both games, it really seems to me that Ryuuji and Shuu’s feelings were an open secret between each other. They knew how they felt, they just never would admit it. Holiday Star was painful!
