Paper Cities/The Atlantic - You're Not From New Hampshire
It's always depressing to find a fun new group, especially in the female-fronted rock band genre, who broke up multiple years ago and hasn't released any music in forever... And then even more so when you discover they represented Chicago! Shame shame shame. Short lived excitement, but I enjoyed the discovery of the song above and figured I'd share it with you all. Happy Monday!
I love how this song matches my mood right now
"Paper Cities" We sent them all across the ocean Many lives were taken Well I didn't cry, I didn't know them And I just looked on with no expression This land was once a home Of friends and family We used to know They are all gone now They are now gone And for what I cannot tell Put down your banners and flowers This war you've made won't last Your country, just lines on a map They're drawn up, they don't last The paper cities burning The ashes fell like rain But when the fire was over Everything had changed The people come together Reminds us we're the same Put down banners and flowers This war you've made won't last Your country, just lines on a map They're' drawn up, but they don't last
Other Lives
put down your banners and flags
this was you've made - it won't last
your country:
just lines on a map.
they're drawn up - they won't last.
paper cities burning
ashes fell like rain
but when the fire was over
everything had changed
Put down banners and flowers This war you've made won't last Your country, just lines on a map They're' drawn up, but they don't last
It is difficult to understand what the other - the same people as we are. We either idealize them as gods, or despise as animals.
John Green. "Paper towns"
