[Album] Other Lives Frontmann Jesse Tabish mit Solodebüt!

Jesse Tabish, Frontman und Mastermind der amerikanischen Band Other Lives, kündigt sein Solo-Debütalbum an! Mit dem Song „Castro“ präsentiert Tabish einen ersten Song des Albums „Cowboy Ballads Part 1“, welches am 21. Oktober über Play It Again Sam veröffentlicht wird. Gemeinsam mit Mitmusikerin und Ehefrau Kim Tabish hat er die Zeit des Lockdowns genutzt und ein Album kreiert, welches an vielen Stellen an den breiten, cineastischen und orchestralen Sound von Other Lives erinnert, aber deutlich roher und intimer wirkt.

Jesse und Kim haben sich das Album als eine Art Soundtrack zu einem nicht existierenden Film vorgestellt, malten gemeinsam zu Musik und ließen sich treiben, ohne den Druck und die teilweise komplexe Konstellation einer Band zu haben. „We were free, to explore, in this quiet space.”

Der ersten Song „Castro“ wurde von einem Freund Tabishs inspiriert, welcher sich zwar ihm gegenüber als homosexuell outete, dies jedoch aus Angst vor deren religiösen Ansichten nicht seiner Familie oder breitem Freundeskreis sagte. Und dennoch gab es eine gute Aussicht für diesen Freund, wie Tabish erklärt:  “But one summer, he visited San Francisco, and it really changed him to see such an openly gay community.“

Diese Hoffnung floss auch in die Musik von „Castro“:

“I tend to gravitate to gloomier melodies, so I was excited to have a really up, positive song in ‘Castro’ - not that we’re post-Covid, but something warm and kind, with a little bit of hope. An, ‘imagine when this shit is over,’ kind of song.”

For the last month I’ve been composing a score for Arthur Millers The Price on broadway and happy to announce its release. I am sharing the original score including additional tracks that were written for the play but not used. I will be donating 1/3 of all proceeds to the International Rescue Commitee (www.rescue.org). It’s a resettlement for refugees in America. The Trump administration wants to suspend refugee settlement impacting thousands. This is my small gesture.
