The rarest Penguin? Panic Party Whenever Penguin Collectors meet up almost inevitable the topic of the rarest Penguin arises. For many this 1942 first edition of Panic Party is the scarcest Penguin issued in the main series. Who know why? Paper rationing, low print run, salvage drives, all candidates, but for some collectors this remains the holy grail. Searchlight Books Wartime publishing Publishing during WW2 was rather a mushroom jungle. Hundreds of small imprints were launched, most didn't survive and were more a way of circumnavigating paper rationing as a new publisher could apply for a quota, whereas established publishers were rationed.
