let characters be responsible for their own mistakes. don't make excuses for them and blame an antagonist that only VERY recently appeared.

edit: I think I might have misinterpreted John's powers here, hehe. So after several rereadings of the recent upd8 I'm gonna take back my last sentence in my previous post, where I said that John's powers can alter the course of events in an extreme way.

Doomed timelines generally work like this.

obv Mayor didn't die in both situations, therefore we can conclude that there are things in the timeline, in the story itself that are set in stone. When John first started to zap in and out of different panels in the comic, it didn't affect the continuation of the alpha timeline.

So we can see that:

the means to the end doesn't matter. Relationships could change, interaction could have never happened, etc. It's like those games with missions, and there are several dialogue choices in between but they don't really matter as much as getting the mission done to move forward in the game

So we're really in the mercy of the Hussie here. The very beginning of Homestuck had readers suggesting moves, then soon it was Hussie incorporating general fandom trends and perceptions of the characters. The latter still happens of course, but only he knows the crucial events now and, with John's powers, could mislead us in any direction.

I'm not a big fan of the Serkets, I much prefer the Captors and the Pyropes, but that's why we're good fans! We have differing opinions. It wouldn't be any fun if everyone liked the same characters!! You keep doing your thing, dear. And even though I don't like a character too much, I can still see that they are well-developed and have a crazy impact on the story! As you said, in a way, Vriska is amazing at being a evil character.

Yeah! (btw I love the Pyropes too! 0u0) There are so many characters in Homestuck that if I try focus on all of them I think my head would explode. So we all just stick to our favorite group and get into their backstories and their personalities better.

That is why I think this comic is so amazing—so many venues to explore once you’ve exhausted certain ones (I’m already thinking about shifting some of my focus to the Alphas and the Pyropes)—and it’s still FRIKIN’ ONGOING. There’s so much potential I am literally getting overwhelmed thinking about it.

I may like what the Serkets are doing to move the story forward (and maybe even see them lose control over their armada and havoc ensues ohyes), but that doesn’t mean I support that kind of political system/idea. Geezbees (I don’t even know how it got into fascism but whatever I'm a registered Dem)

I think the misunderstanding of the said concepts makes tumblr so volatile to different opinions. Like woah, some HS fans just take an event and blow it up to ridiculous proportions (like with Terezi and Gamzee), not taking into account that a character can have just as many facets as a real person. Debates on fictional characters provide a lot of new insights and is a lot of fun and helps us learn more about ourselves—agree to disagree. But when others turn it into personal and albeit judgmental attacks like this one then it’s not ok. ._.
