How does Rafael react when Rosie tells him she got married on the playground to a little boy in her class and they kissed.
It was a normal Tuesday for Rafael. He was cleaning the apartment, doing laundry along with having lunch with his mother. When Rafael went to pick Rosie up from school, she frowned as she waved at a boy before rushing off to her papi.
“Did you have fun at school today, Rosie?” Rafael said as he grabbed the girls hand and walking down the sidewalk with her to the subway.
“I did papi! I got married!” Rafael stopped walking and stared down at the seven year old.
“You what?”
“I got married!”
“To who?!”
“Elliot! He’s my husband! We kissed in front of the jungle gym.” Rosie blushed as she stared at her feet.
“You married Elliot? Princesa, no. You’re too young.” Rosie frowned and stomped her foot.
“I’m married, papi! You can’t do anything about it!” Rosie said as she began to march forward but she didn’t get car with her papi holding her hand.
“Rosalina. I do not allow this marriage!” Rafael said. Rosie’s eyes began to tear up.
“Why are you so mean, papi!” Rosie shouted. Rafael sighed as he scooped the girl up into his arms.
“Aye, princesa. You’re just too young to be married. You have to wait until you’re papi’s age.” Rafael said, causing the girl to gasp.
“I’m going to wait sooooo long.” Rosie said. Rafael rolled his eyes as he kissed her cheek.
How about Rosie’s first Halloween? What does she dress up as? Do Raf dress up too?
“Ooh! What about this one? Or this one? No! Papi, I want this one! Please please please!” Rosie said as she grabbed the costume off the rack. It was a few days before Halloween and Rosie still hadn’t found a costume until they went to the store. As Rafael looked at it, he chuckled as he looked at the size and the looked at the others.
“You need the next size up, princesa. That one, grab it.” Rosie did and handed it to her father. He looked over the outfit before looking at his daughter. “Thank you, papi!” Rosie hugged her father’s leg. They went to check out and Rosie carried the bag to the car.
It was finally Halloween and Rosie couldn’t wait to dress up. Rafael helped her into her little Wonder Woman costume. As she looked herself over in the mirror again, she ran to the bathroom and waited for her papi to do her hair. Once he finished combing through her curls he helped put her tiara on her forehead and giggled.
“Look, papi! I’m Wonder Woman!” Rosie shouted as she ran around the apartment. Rafael laughed and nodded.
“Yes you are. We’re going to see abuelita and go to the neighborhood by her place.” Rosie nodded and looked down at her feet some.
“Can’t we go see uncle Sonny? Mia says they get really good candy when they live.” Rafael looked down at the girl with a raised brow.
“Maybe after we spend time with abuelita, Rosie. Let’s get your shoes on and head out. Vámonos.” Rafael spoke. The girl nodded as she ran over to their shoe rack and she put her sneakers on. As she stood, Rafael helped her little pink pumpkin shaped bucket in his hand before the two headed towards the car.
The entire drive to Lucia’s apartment, Rosie was mumbling on and on about how she couldn’t wait to go trick or treating. Rafael had explained to his daughter about how she had to hold his hand or Lucia’s hand the entire night. He was afraid someone would try kidnapping her. Once they had arrived at Lucia’s apartment, Rosie was bouncing in her seat as she unbuckled her car seat and waited for her father before rushing to Lucia’s apartment.
“Abuelita!” Rosie said as she hugged Lucia. Lucia smiled as the girl and looked over her costume before looking at her son.
“My little Wonder Woman! You’re such a cutie!” Lucia smiled down at the girl. Rosie giggled before turning to look at her father.
“Can we go get candy now?” Rosie asked the male. He chuckled and nodded before looking at his mother.
“We have to go to a few blocks up but we could probably hit a few houses on the way there.” Rafael handed Rosie her pink pumpkin bucket before grabbing her hand and leaving the apartment.
Rosie watched as other kids walked past her and she hid against her papi. She was nervous but she had her father and grandmother there to protect her. The first townhouse Rafael stopped at with the girl, she stood just below the stairs and stared at the door. She was nervous and scared and didn’t want to go up to get candy. Rafael looked at the girl and frowned.
“Do you want papi to go with you, princesa?” Rafael asked. Rosie nodded as she tightened her grip on Rafael’s hand. He walked up the stairs to the door and the woman smiled at the two through the glass door.
“Trick or treat…” Rosie said quietly as she held her bucket out. She bowed her head and refused to meet the woman’s eyes.
“I didn’t expect to see Wonder Woman today! You’re so much cuter in person! I bet you’re stronger too.” The woman said as she kneeled down to the girls height. Rosie slowly looked at the lady as she gave her a few pieces of candy.
“Thanks you.” Rosie said before turning with her father and walking down the stairs. Rosie looked up at Rafael with a smile.
“You have nothing to be afraid of, Rosie. Papi will be here to protect you. So will abuelita.” Rafael said as Lucia grabbed the bucket from Rosie and grabbed her other hand as they all began to walk down the sidewalk to get more candy for the tiny girl.
How does Rosie feel when Raf and Andre show up to get her? Do they all talk it out at home?
Rafael and Andre were at Peter’s house in record time. Rafael called Olivia to inform her that he found Rosie. As they pulled up to the Stone residence, Rafael just stared at the door. He slowly turned to Andre and looked at him.
“Thank you, Andre. You want to come in? In case she wants to talk to you?” Rafael asked. Andre chuckled and shut the car off.
“I’ll come in, Rafi. She’s okay right?” Andre asked as he got out of the car. Rafael nodded and began to walk towards the house.
“This is her girlfriends house. So she’s completely fine.” Rafael said as he knocked at the door. Within seconds, the door opened to reveal Peter.
“Up the stairs, second door in the left…” Peter said as he allowed both men into the house. Rafael climbed the stairs and gently knocked on the bedroom door. When the door opened, Avery looked at Rafael and then back at Rosie.
“Rosie? Someone’s here for you.” Rosie was cuddling a bear she got Avery a few weeks before. She slowly looked towards the door as he hazel-green eyes stared at her father.
“P-papi? How did you find me..?” The male walked over to his daughter and sat on the side of the bed.
“I called Olivia… then Peter called me to tell me you were here. Mija, why did you run away? You had me worried sick about you.” Rafael said as he wrapped his arms tightly around Rosie. She wrapped her arms around his neck and sobbed into his chest.
“I-I’m so sorry papi. I thought you’d be happier with me gone… s-so you and Andre could be together…” She sobbed into her father’s chest.
“Rosie, you scared me. Someone could have kidnapped you and I wouldn’t see my precious baby girl again. You’re going to be grounded for this, you understand that?” Rafael said. Rosie pulled away slowly and quickly nodded her head.
“C-can we go home now, papi?” Rosie asked. Rafael nodded and he placed a kiss to her forehead and dried her tears. As the two stood and got out of the bed, they made their way down the stairs to Andre. Rosie stopped short and stared at the male.
“Andre?” Rosie asked. He smiled at the girl and nodded.
“I’m glad you’re alright, Rosie. You gave your father and I both a scare.” She stared at her teacher before walked over towards him.
“You should… stay with my papi. He deserves to be happy and you make him happy. Really happy. He would sing a lot more often.” Rosie said. Andre chuckled as he raised a brow and glanced at Rafael.
“I didn’t know you would sing.” Rafael’s face slowly began to turn red.
“I just do it around the house. While I’m cleaning or doing laundry.”
“And in the shower!” Rosie added. Rafael flares down at Rosie as she giggled softly.
“Well, Rafael, if you’re willing to give this another go, I don’t have a problem with it.” Rafael looked at Andre as he spoke. A few tears in his eyes.
“Really? We can work this out?” Andre nodded. Rafael took a few steps and wrapped his arms tightly around the male. Andre held him close before Rosie wrapped her arms tightly around Avery.
“Now I need to take you two back home. Come on, Rosie. Say goodbye to your girlfriend.” Andre said. Rosie nodded and she hugged Avery tight before giving her a quick kiss on the lips. Peter glared down at the girl before Rosie turned to leave with Rafael and Andre.
Rafael wasn’t worried when Rosie’s Spanish teacher called him. Teachers were always calling to have a small parent teacher conference. Rosie was always top of her class and her teachers were always recommending her to be changed to a higher class. That was probably the reason her Spanish teacher wanted to talk to Rafael. As Rafael entered the school, he made his way towards the language wing before gently knocking on the door of the room.
“Come in.” A voice called. When Rafael opened the door, he saw Rosie and her Spanish teacher sitting and just talking.
“I’m Rafael, Rosie’s father.” Rafael spoke as he approached the teacher. Rafael extended his hand as the teacher stood and quickly shook his head.
“It’s great to finally meet you, Mr Barba. I’m Andre King, your daughter’s Spanish teacher. Even though she probably knows a bit more than I do.” The male chuckled. Rafael smirked as he sat in the desk beside his daughter.
“Granted she’s from El Salvador, along with my mother and I speaking Spanish to her at home.” Rafael looked at his daughter. She just stared down at the homework she was trying to work on.
“About that, actually. I was thinking of transferring her to my honors class. Nothing in her schedule will change except her free period and Spanish will be flipped. She’ll have her free period third period and Spanish seventh. I just have to have a meeting with her guidance counselor and the principal to get these changes. I just need you to sign here to okay the chances.” Andre said as he handed the paper over to Rafael. He nodded as he quickly signed it before handing it back to the teacher.
“We should be heading home, Rosie.” Rafael said. As he stood from the desk and went to shake the man's hand once again, he noticed something on his desk. Tickets to the latest Broadway musical. “Are you going to see that musical?” Rafael asked. Rosie groaned some as she looked between her teacher and father.
“Yes I am. Friday night after school. Do you like the theatre?” Andre asked as he glance at the ticket that was currently being used as a bookmark in the grading book.
“I’m a big fan. Always have been. I tend to go at least once a month.” Rafael said. Andre smiled and slowly nodded.
“That’s nice to hear. I try to go once a month but something with my busy schedule it’s pretty hard.” Andre responded. Rosie groaned again and grabbed her father's arm.
“C’mon, papi. I want to go home.” Rosie whined. Rafael turned to his daughter and nodded.
“Alright, princesa. We’ll go home. Thank you for allowing my daughter to join your honors class, Mr King.” Rafael said. Andre nodded as he began to gather up his things.
“I plan on seeing you around, Mr Barba. I assume you’re apart of the PTA?” Rafael nodded with a smile.
“Of course I am! I’ll see at the meeting Tuesday?” Rafael asked with a raised brow. Andre nodded before jotting something down on a post it note and handing it to Rafael.
“I have an extra ticket for Friday. Call me if you’d like to join?” Rafael was hesitant before grabbing the number with a nod.
“I’ll be sure to do that. Have a nice night, Mr King.” Rafael turned as him and Rosie began to walk towards the door.
“Call me Andre, please.” The male smiled before turning back to his desk and began to gather his things once again.
“Did you really just hit on my teacher, papi?” Rosie asked once they got to the car. Rafael’s cheeks turned pinked as he shook his head.
“Absolutely not! I-it’s just hard to find someone that is interested in theatre!” Rosie rolled her eyes as she got into the car.
“Let’s just get home. I’m starving.” Rosie said. Rafael nodded as he got into the car and began to drive home.
@giraffe-puppy and I had written this idea to follow the events of 19.13. We both strongly believe this is what happens with Rafael.
Rafael was nervous. It was the first day that that he was bringing the little girl home. After months of home visits, trips to the orphanage and visits with social services, his baby girl was finally coming home. Even though Rafael still have a few more home visits here and there, he didn’t care, his daughter was finally coming home. When Rafael had picked her up from the orphanage, she was bouncing on the front stairs before running towards him with a large smile over her face.
“Papi!” She shouted as Rafael moved down to his knees to hug the girl. She giggled softly and wrapped her arms tightly around his neck.
“Oh, Rosie. You ready to come home mi princesa?” Rafael asked the little girl. She nodded and placed a kiss on Rafael’s cheek.
“Yes! I can’t wait to go home! What are we having for dinner?” Rosie said. Rafael stood and held his daughter against his side as he walked back to the car.
“Abuelita is coming over for dinner tonight. She can’t wait to finally have dinner with us, princesa.” Rafael said as he situated the little girl in the car seat. Rosie smiled as she gently kicked her feet and watched her father.
The drive home was amazing. Rosie was telling Rafael all about how she had been telling her friends about her father and how she couldn’t wait until she got to go home. How she always drew pictures for her papi and how he was always so happy to see the pictures. Once they arrived at the apartment, Rosie was bouncing in her seat. Rafael laughed as he unbuckled her car seat and helped her out. As Rafael unlocked the door to the apartment, he opened the door and watched as Rosie’s eyes lit up.
“Wow… and you live here all by yourself papi?” Rosie asked as she walked into the living room. Rafael chuckled and took his shoes off by the door. Rosie watched and pulled her cute little pink shoes off and placed them right beside her fathers.
“I don’t live here alone, Rosie. I live here with you!” Rafael smiled at the little girl. Rosie looked up at Rafael with her bright green-hazel eyes and giggled.
“Where do I sleep papi?” Rosie asked. Rafael grabbed her hand and walked towards the small hallways where he opened the door that had a pink ‘R’ hanging on it. Behind the door was a room, painted pink and purple with a flower boarder around the middle of the walls. Against the wall was a small bed, a toy chest on the opposite room with a few different toys around the room. A small kitchen set, a plastic vanity with play makeup and a small dresser that had some clothing along with a closet that had dresses in it. Rosie giggled as she ran to the bed and laid in it.
“Do you like your bedroom, princesa?” Rafael said as he walked into the room. Rosie giggled as she got up and ran around the room and looked at everything she had before running to Rafael and hugging his leg tightly. Rosie smiled up at her father.
“I love it! Thank you thank you thank you!” Rosie said. Rafael got down to his daughters height and placed a kiss to her nose before heading to the kitchen.
“Abuelita will be over soon, Rosie. You can play with your toys but once she comes, you have to clean up.” Rafael called from the kitchen. He heard the toy chest close shut as he listen to Rosie play with her dolls. Rafael smiled to himself as he began to cook. After about an hour, there was a knock on the door. Rafael went to open the door and was instantly hugged by his mother.
“Where is she?! Where in my granddaughter?!” Lucia asked her son. Rafael laughed softly as he allowed his mother into the apartment.
“Rosie! Abuelita is here!” Rafael called. He heard some commotion coming from his daughters room before she came rushing out. Lucia almost cried seeing the small curl. Her curly brown hair bouncing behind her as she ran towards the older woman. She instantly ran into Lucia and hugged her tightly.
“Abuelita!” Rosie said happily. Lucia got down and hugged the girl tightly before looking up at her son.
“Oh, Rafi. She’s so beautiful.” Lucia said. Rosie giggled before turning to her father with a smile. She crawled into the one chair and tucking her legs under her. Rafael chuckled was he filled a small plastic plate and grabbed the small plastic silverware he bought her. He found a cup and filled it with juice before handing everything over to Rosie.
Lucia and Rafael filled their plates, prayed with the small girl before enjoying their dinner. Lucia and Rafael had some side conversations in Spanish but the majority of the dinner conversation was in English for Rosie. She giggled softly as she told her abuelita and father how she was excited to start school in a few months. She couldn’t wait to go into preschool. Once they finished dinner, Rosie ran to go watch cartoons on the TV while Rafael and Lucia sat at the kitchen table and talked.
“Is it all finalized, Rafi?” Lucia asked as she watched the girl. She yawned softly and slowly rubbed at her eyes.
“Not yet. I have a few home visits before it’s all finalized. The social worker says I shouldn’t have to worry at all. Rosie is in a loving and caring environment.” Rafael said with a smile. He looked at his mother and Lucia smiled.
“Aye, hijo. I’m so proud of you. Adopting a cute little girl like that. You finally have a family.” Lucia said as she watched Rosie fall asleep on the couch. She had her thumb in her mouth with her other arm under her head. Rafael smiled as he turned towards his mother.
“I should put her to bed. We’ll come visit tomorrow.” Rafael stood. Lucia nodded as she kissed her sons cheek and hugged him tightly.
“Alright, Rafi. I’ll see you and Rosie tomorrow.” Lucia slid her shoes on as she left the apartment. Rafael sighed some as he quickly cleaned up the kitchen table before turning the television off and picking up the girl. Rafael held the young girl against him and gently began to rub her back. He couldn’t believe that he has a child in his life. A beautiful little girl that completely changed his life over the last year he’s know her. As Rafael went to place Rosie in her bed, she whined and grabbed his shirt tightly.
“No, no papi. I wanna sleep with you.” Rosie mumbled out as she slowly opened her eyes. Rafael looked into her green-hazel eyes and chuckled softly.
“Sí, mi princesa.” Rafael whispered to the girl. He carried her towards his bedroom and placed her gently in the bed. He pulled the blanket over her and she cuddled into the bed. Rafael chuckled and he quickly put his cotton pajama bottoms on before curling up into the bed.
“I love you, papi.” Rosie whispered as she yawned and fell asleep. Rafael chuckled softly as he kissed her forehead and pushed her bangs out of her face.
“I love you too, mi princesa. So much.” Rafael whispered as he watched the small girl. He still couldn’t believe that he had a daughter and he had a family.
Ahhh I need more!!! Omg where did Rosie go?! Raf is going to lose his mind if something happens to her! I want to believe she is going to try to fix her dads breakup.
Rafael stared at the note before looking out the window. Rafael was in full panic mode as he pulled his phone out. He tried to call Rosie’s phone but each time it went straight to voicemail each then. He then called Olivia and prayed for her to answer the call.
“Hello?” Olivia’s voice asked. Rafael let it a sigh of relief as she answered.
“Liv, I need help. Rosie ran away. I-I don’t know where she went.” Rafael said as he was pacing around his daughters room. He looked around and noticed her backpack was gone, but her school books were on her bed and a few of her dresser drawers were opened slightly.
“Hold on, Rafa. Rosie ran away? Look, I’ll see if I can put a tap on her phone and see if she uses her debit card anywhere, alright? I’ll be in touch soon.” Olivia said before she hung up the phone. Rafael, still extremely worried about his daughter called someone else and waited. And waited. And waited.
“Hello?” A voice said.
“A-Andre?” Rafael asked softly.
“Raf, is everything alright?” Rafael was near tears at this point.
“N-no. Rosie ran off. I don’t know where. Her phone is going straight to voicemail a-and-“
“Calm down, Rafi. I’ll be there soon, alright?” Andre said. Rafael nodded as he slowly exhaled.
“A-alright…” Rafael said. Andre didn’t want to end the call but he did. He made sure that the neighbors were alright watching Micah before he made his way to Rafael’s apartment. When Andre got there, Rafael looked like a mess. He’d been crying nonstop. The moment Rafael had opened the door he hugged Andre tightly.
“Hey, it’s gonna be alright, Rafael. Did you call the cops?” Rafael nodded as he pulls away from Andre.
“I called a friend and she’s tracking her phone and her cards.” Just then, Rafael phone went off saying he had a text.
Olivia BensonRosie bought a ticket for the subway. 20 minutes ago for the D train for Queens.
Rafael stared at the text for what felt like forever. He knew exactly why she was going to Queens. A sigh escaped his lips as he was scrolling through his phone for a phone number. Just then, he got a call from the number that he was looking for.
“Please tell me Rosie is there.” Rafael said the moment he asked. The voice on the other line chuckled some.
“Yeah, she’s here. Her and Avery are in her room. I felt the need to call you.” Peter said. Rafael looked at Andre who simply nodded.
“I’ll be there soon for her, alright? Just please call me if she leaves.” Rafael said as he slid his shoes on and left the apartment behind Andre.
“Rosalina, eat the spinach!” Rafael shouted. The four year old looked at the few leaves on her plate and began to push them around.
“But they’re icky, papi.” Rafael sighed.
“Por favor, Rosie. We can go get some ice cream after.” Rosie’s hazel-green eyes lit up as she hesitantly grabbed some of of the greens on her fork and shoved it in her mouth.
