House Visit || Marley & Blaine
Tagging: Marley Rose and Blaine Anderson
Time Frame: Monday night, July 29th
Location: Blaine's new apartment
Notes: Marley is upset and texts Blaine, asking if she can stop by for a friendly afternoon
Blaine: To say that Blaine was nervous would be a great understatement. Knowing that Kurt could come to move in any day now had his heart pounding and his inner control freak checking every tiny detail of the apartment constantly. He still felt sick to his gut over the fact that he had to buy Kurt, but he was happy that he had made it before someone else did. Nonetheless, he was still terrified that deep down Kurt hated him, but was simply hiding it out of fear for what he could do. When Marley had texted him, asking if she could come over, he felt relieved. Maybe he was lucky and she could take his mind off Kurt for a few moments, not to mention that he hoped he could calm her nerves for a bit, as well.
Marley: Marley drove over to the apartment, hating this is could be the last time she drove anywhere. The last time she had any freedom at all. Pulling up to the building she climbed out and headed up to the third floor, looking for the right number. When she found it, she knocked before opening the door and slipping inside. "Blaine?" She called out not sure where exactly he was in the apartment. She had a few questions she hoped he could answer but she mostly just needed to feel normal for awhile.
Blaine: He was in the living room, arranging a few books and bits on the shelves when he heard Marley call for him through the apartment. He rushed to the hall, brows furrowed in concern. There was no way she could be okay right now. "Hey... You found it," he said, feeling a little stupid. Of course she would find it. Rather than waiting for her to say anything he put his arms around her, dragging her into a warm hug. There was nothing he could do for her, but at least no one could take his right to hug his friend from him.
Marley: Blaine made a stupid comment and Marley's mouth crinkled into a smile slightly. That was definitely Blaine for you. Saying stupid things when he felt awkward. He didn't give her a chance to speak though and moved closer wrapping her in a hug. Marley sighed and leaned against his chest, the tears flowing from her eyes. She had tried to be positive but that was getting harder and harder to do. "Blaine..." She sobbed, her arms falling around his body as well, not wanting to let him go.
Blaine: Her tears took him completely by surprise, but from the first feeling of her tears soaking through his polo he squeezed her even tighter, caressing a hand up and down her back. "Shhh, Marls... I know this sucks... But it'll be okay. We'll make it be okay..."
Marley: Marley felt Blaine rub up and down her back and she relaxed slightly, her sobs steadying to just regular tears again. "It'll never be okay." She whispered. "I'll be the one that ends up with some creep."
Blaine: With a deep breath he put an arm around her waist and made her walk with him to the couch. He made her sit down next to him where he pressed a kiss to her temple and brushed a tear away from her cheek. "No, sweetie. It's gonna be okay. Even so... Brittany ended up with someone and Santana came and saved her. Even if someone you don't like buys you, someone else can buy you out. We're gonna work it out some way. I promise..."
Marley: "Brittany was just with the slave trader because they were worried she'd get lost." Marley clarified. "She didn't have to do anything while there." She knew Blaine was trying to help but she knew out of all her friends it was clear that she wasn't going to get lucky. "Everyone else has gotten lucky, there's no way that I'll be as well." She mumbled. "I'll be the one that gets raped daily and beaten." The thought alone made her shiver and she felt like she was going to be sick.
Blaine: He frowned and took a firm grip with two fingers on her chin, forcing her eyes to meet his. "Hey, don't say that. That's not necessarily true. And even if you do... I know people."
Marley: Blaine forced her to look at him and Marley shook quietly. "What...what do you mean?" She whispered. Even if he did have people he wouldn't necessarily know what was going on. Her 'master' could prevent her from any contact with the outside world and then she'd be on her own.
Blaine: He sighed and leaned back against the back rest. He rubbed his hands over his face before looking at her. "I... some of my old friends from Dalton... they... They sort of have a place where they hide people. Those who're treated the worst. Those who... get collared up, or beaten up for fun. I know that if I asked them to hide you they would... even if you weren't in such a situation. But it could only ever be a temporary solution. That's why I never talk about it..."
Marley: Blaine's body language told Marley that what he was about to say could hurt a lot of people if it ever got out. He explained that some of his friends hide people who are in situations like that, temporarily. "Oh." She whispered not sure what to say. "Not that you'd know if I was in trouble." She mumbled looking down at her knees. This whole thing was just scary and she couldn't help how she was feeling.
Blaine: He rolled his eyes and grabbed her hand. "Marls... if I knew you'd been sold - and you will tell me - and I didn't hear from you after you moved in with whoever buys you, do you really think I wouldn't guess that something would be wrong?" He squeezed her hand a little tighter, trying to give her a smile he hoped seemed assuring.
Marley: Blaine told her that he'd know something was wrong if he didn't hear from her after she'd been bought and moved in with someone. "I guess." Marley mumbled. "How you'd find me is another question entirely."
Blaine: He ran a hand up her arm, forcing his smile to stay. He understood that she was scared, why she was scared. He was scared for her too, but he couldn't let himself break for her. She needed him too much. "You have four days from you get the letter until you have to move in. They will need to give you the address first, and you get the rules beforehand. So you can just make sure I have your new address before you move in. And you can tell me your rules, so we can work something out together if they're too crazy."
Marley: Marley nodded, tears still falling as she curled into a ball. She shifted slightly to lean against him, just needing his warmth. "I love you Blaine." She whispered meaning the words in a friendship and brotherly kind of way. Blaine was always there for her and she had to trust that he would be now as well. There were so many things that could go wrong and she prayed that he was prepared to help no matter what. "I....they have to let me finish school right?" She asked, somewhat worried that she'd never graduate high school.
Blaine: As she fell to his side he put his arms back around her, slowly rocking her back and forth in a comforting motion, hoping he could offer at least some sort of consoling. "I love you too, Marls." He looked around the living room, considering if there was anything at all he could do to help her, to say to ease her mind, but he had no words to offer, making him feel hopeless and useless. "I'm afraid not. But... if they want you to work later they need to let you stay in school."
Marley: Blaine said that they weren't required to let her finish school and she broke down again, that being her only hope for some normalcy. "I just want to disappear." She cried. "I can't do this." She already felt so broken and she hadn't even been bought yet.
Blaine: "You're not alone here, okay? I'm not gonna let you be alone with this." He continued rubbing her back, kissing her hair and searching for words, but he had none. The situation truly seemed lost for any kind of hope.
Marley: "Yes I am." Marley mumbled. "I have no one to save me. I'm going to end up being bought by the creep Jacob Ben Israel." She sobbed trying to take comfort from Blaine but honestly just glad she wasn't at home right now.
Blaine: He sighed heavily and backed away, taking her shoulders firmly. "No. You're not. If some creep buy you and give you some insane rules we'll hide you before it's too late." He rubbed a thumb over her arm before he got to his feet and picked up a box of Kleenex from the shelf next to the TV. "Here, no more crying. We're gonna make sure you are gonna get the best of this time. What's on the top of your bucket list?"
Marley: Blaine pulled away and took her shoulders promising that it wouldn't happen. That they'd save her before that happened. Fetching her tissues he told her to stop crying. "I don't have one." Marley declared.
Blaine: He let a vague smile cross his face as he grabbed her hand, leading her to the kitchen. "Look, I know this is gonna be harsh, but crying won't do anything good anyway, so now you and I are gonna bake some cookies, and we are going to fix you a bucket list. Anything you wanna do at all. No limits in the world..."
Marley: Marley nodded as Blaine declared that they were going to bake cookies and make a bucket list. "Okay." She whispered. "I want to graduate. I want to sing professionally. I want to travel the world. I won't be able to do any of them now." She whimpered.
Blaine joined the chat 3 hours ago
Blaine: Blaine took in her words, turning them over in his head while he rummaged around the cupboards, looking for ingredients and bowls and spoons. Abruptly he turned to face her. "I've got an idea. Just help me out here. We're going to make your dreams come true today..."
Marley: Marley just leaned against the counter while Blaine got out things for making cookies. When he stopped and turned to face her telling her they were going to make her dreams come true she raised her eyebrows and sent him a confused look. "Don't think that's possible but okay." She mumbled, prepared to be disappointed.
Blaine: He sighed, handing her a spoon before he started mixing the ingredients. He looked at her with a trying smile. "I know it sucks. A lot. And I may not be able to turn you into a recording artist or take you to Spain right now. But... just play along. Okay?" He smiled again and shoved a piece of chocolate into her mouth. "Eat. It'll make you feel better."
Marley: Marley took the spoon from Blaine and just stood there not sure what she was supposed to do with it. "Fine." She sighed not sure she was in the mood but willing to see what he had up his sleeves. He shoved a piece of chocolate at her and she chewed, enjoying the taste of one of her favorite things. Another thing she may lose when she was bought. There wasn't anything that could make her not think about it and that sucked.
Blaine: He shot her a grin, squeezing an arm around her waist before he continued. Every now and then he would nudge her with his shoulder, trying to make her smile. As he had the cookies in the oven he pushed the bowl towards her. "Here. Have the rest. I'm just gonna fix something. I'll be back in a minute," he declared and pressed a kiss to her cheek before he disappeared out of the kitchen.
Marley: Marley was more than grateful to have met Blaine. She didn't know how she'd be dealing with this without him. He seemed to be the only positive in her life right now. He nudged her every now and then but it didn't really help in making her smile. After he put the cookies in the oven he pushed the remainder of dough her way. Cookie dough was another of her weaknesses. She started scooping it up onto her finger as Blaine kissed her cheek and moved out of the room, off to do some mysterious thing.
Blaine: When the alarm rang, signaling for the cookies being done he rushed back to the kitchen. As soon as he had the cookies sure for cooling down on the counter he put the bowl in the sink before he turned to her and grabbed her hand, leading her down the hall. He led her to the living room, sitting her by the piano where he had put a miniature Eiffel Tower on top, from his side he grabbed an old graduation cap he once had got from his brother and placed it on her head. "Now. You're in Paris. Celebrating your graduation. From that school in London where Adele went." Slowly he started playing something random from the top of his head.
Marley: Blaine didn't come back out until the timer for the cookies went off. He pulled them out and took the bowl from her moving it to the sink. Then he grabbed her hand and led her down the hall placing a graduation cap on her head once he had sat her down next to the piano. He told her to imagine she was in Paris celebrating. He started to play and she tried to picture it but ended up just focusing on fighting back tears.
Blaine: "Come on... sing..." He offered, smiling at her, his fingers still running over the ivory, waiting for her voice to break through. He knew it wasn't the same, but right now it was the best he had to offer her.
Marley: The only songs that popped into Marley's head were depressing ones but Blaine wanted her to sing so she did, tears falling as she let the lyrics flow over her. She appreciated him trying, but it was honestly only making her feel worse.
Blaine: As she started singing he slowly fell into the song, hitting the right keys, following her lead and letting her tears fall. He knew she had to be struggling to keep herself together, but he was not going to stop her. If she needed to fall apart he would let her.
Marley: When she finished Marley placed the cap onto the piano and curled in a ball. Why did this have to hurt so much? Why didn't she have anyone to save her? Why did this have to happen in the first place?
Blaine: As she let the song drift out he let the music die out with her words. He sighed and embraced the crying girl, holding her close to his chest, doing his best to soothe her
Marley: Marley felt Blaine wrap his arms around her and she continued to cry just wanting this all to be over with. She couldn't help the negative thoughts but she knew Blaine would slap her if he knew what was running through her head.
Blaine: He didn't let her go for a minute, holding her close, whispering soothing sounds in her ear as he petted her back and hair. He knew there was no way to take her mind off this horrible situation she was caught in, but he needed to at least make her stop crying. It was too heartbreaking. "How uhm... how are things at home? How is your mom taking all of this?"
Marley: Blaine asked her how things were at home and she sighed. "My stuff is already packed." She grumbled. "I'm pretty sure she wants me out the minute I'm bought. We haven't talked since. I can't look at her." Marley explained.
Blaine: He frowned, chewing on the inside of his cheek. "I'm sure it's not like that. Not everyone has a choice when it comes to selling their children. I think you should try talking to her..."
Marley: "I know why she did it. That doesn't change anything Blaine." She murmured. "It doesn't take away the pain, the fear of being raped and forced to do things. It doesn't make me feel any better at all. Because she didn't talk to me about it. I could have gotten a job, helped support us if she had just talked to me."
Blaine: He massaged the bridge of his nose with two fingers, taking in her words. He couldn't blame her for how she was feeling, but that didn't mean that he thought it was the right way of her to go. "Marls, it's not always that black and white..."
Marley: "Yes yes it is." Marley sobbed. "Instead she sold me and who the hell knows what kind of situation I'll end up in."
Blaine: He took a deep breath, not wanting to sound too harsh. "Listen, it's not always parents have a choice. Especially not when they're in the same situation as your mom, okay? Please don't be too hard on her..."
Marley: "Me not talking to her is me not being too hard on her." Marley snapped completely breaking down. It wasn't easy having your entire future taken. "Sure your parents made you buy someone but you still get to have a life." She told him.
Blaine: "Okay. Alright..." He moved a little away, feeling guilty. He knew this wasn't his responsibility, but as the only one of his closest friends who hadn't been sold he felt like he owed them the world.
Marley: Marley knew she shouldn't be mad at Blaine. He was the only one trying to help her but it just hurt so much. Standing up she wrapped her arms around his waist and just cried against his chest. She wanted him to be able to fix things but knew he couldn't.
Blaine: With a deep breath full of hopelessness he put his arms around her, dragging her close. "Do you wanna spend the night here? I can make up the couch for you. Or you can stay in my bed with me..."
Marley: "If you don't mind." Marley whispered nodding in the affirmative. "I don't want to be alone. I don't want to wake up from the nightmares alone." She admitted.
Blaine: "Of course not. You can stay here as long as you want... I mean, when Kurt comes I have to make sure he feels comfortable. But... let's just see..."
Marley: "Thank you." Marley nodded, leaning up to kiss Blaine's cheek. "Can...can I go lay down?" She asked tired and emotionally exhausted from everything.
Blaine: He leaned in closer, squeezing her for a moment before letting go. "Of course you can. If you want you can just go to my room. It's alright."
Marley: "Thank you." Marley whispered hugging him back before moving to the bedroom that was decorated. She slipped off her shoes and crawled into his bed just trying to relax.
Blaine: He dumped back on the piano stool, running a hand through his hair as he heard her disappear down the hall. After a few moments he got himself together and headed for the kitchen, cleaning up the mess after their baking adventure.
Marley: "For some reason, sleeping in Blaine's bed was almost like he was holding her. She'd had a hard time sleeping lately, but she could feel herself drifting off as she breathed in his comforting scent.
Blaine: He didn't want to do anything too much in case Marley woke up and needed him, so as soon as he was done with the kitchen he returned to the living room where he played a few random heartwrenching songs, only reminding himself of what he had done to Kurt.
Marley: Marley passed out and for once felt safe. Right here, nothing could hurt her. Right here she could sleep and know that someone cared.
