Stephen had heard the rumors: that there was a man who hated vampires and was hunting them. There were not many other hunters, especially those who made it known what they planned to do. His research had led Stephen to a name and a location: Christian Burkes, Leeds. The Church was strict on Leeds and when priests were allowed to go there, it was a way to make sure that there was no corruption within the church.
Stephen had managed to get a pass on the ban by pleading with a Bishop that he only wanted to go to the city to try to save souls. The Bishop had agreed after a week of pestering on the condition that Stephen would never speak to the Bishop again. Stephen was surprisingly fine with that. From there, it had only been a matter of getting a ride to Leeds, which also had not been a problem.
Stephen was now standing in the city of Leeds feeling a bit overwhelmed. When the church said that the Leeds was a lost city, he had thought it was a bit melodramatic but the city of sin might actually live up to the melodrama. His priestly robes made him stand out and since he had walked into the city he had almost been robbed several times.
Finding Christian Burkes was going to be a harder task than he had first thought. While he normally would have gone to the seediest bar he could find and buy information there (hopefully without alcohol being spilled on himself) in any other place, but in a city like Leeds... Any bar could be the seediest and Stephen didn't have the patience to go barhopping for information. He resolved to just find a bar, try to find information and if he couldn't find anything out then it was simply not meant to be.
The bar he found could have won an award for seediness. Not only was there a perpetual level of smoke, the entire bar seemed to be holding its breath until the next fight broke out. Stephen leaned against the bar top, sliding over a small bag of coins to the bartender.
"I'm looking for a man. His name is Christian Burkes and I heard he hates vampires. Any idea where I can find him?" Stephen didn't let go of the bag nor did he look away from the bartender's eyes as he spoke. It was the best way to get what he wanted.
"He runs the Devil's Den." The bartender finally said and Stephen let go of the bag. The name of an establishment was all he needed. After he left the bar, he began to make his way through Leeds, looking for any hint of where the Den was. By the time he had found the den, he had lost most of his money to bribing people for information. With a deep breath, he knocked on the door.
"Hello, I am here to see Christian Burkes." He spoke with a confidence he did not feel at that moment.
