SUMMARY → Lucy bumps into Scorpius and finally makes him talk to her.
LUCY:
Lucy’s favorite thing about being a prefect wasn’t the authority she had over her peers (although that was a second favorite), or the shiny badge she got to wear everyday. No, her favorite part of being a prefect was being able to wander the hallways without having to sneak around professors or other prefects. So as her prefect duties came to an end she made her way towards the astronomy tower, wrapping the robe closer to her as she walked up the stairs. It wasn’t often that she visited the Astronomy tower, not anymore anyway, but that night seemed to be an exception.
The darkness of the night combined with the light of the stars cast shadows over her face as she finally arrived. Looking around she almost smiled at the sight of the familiar blonde sitting on one of the benches, and for a moment she thought of another blonde. The thought caused a dull ache in her chest before she shook it off, or tried to. With grace only a dancer could have she silently made her way towards him, sitting herself next to him. Cold fingers pulling her dress over her thigh and her robe closer to her herself. “Malfoy.” she finally greeted.
Mason drummed his fingers across the cool wood, swirling his glass with his other hand as he re-positioned himself on the bar stool. It had been a pretty long day for him at the gym, the kind had made him want to get into bed and never leave, but in the spirit of the fact that he hadn’t been out in ages; Mason had decided that going out for a drink was better than doing nothing at all.
So that was where he found himself, surrounded by a heavy amount of people drinking and dancing around him with the invasive, vibrating music enclosing him. He turned to his right and smiled at the girl sat next to him, before he spoke to her, “Quiet night, huh?” he said sarcastically, laughing at his own joke and exhaling from his nose before he took a swig from his glass again. He downed the contents and asked the barman for another, “What about you? Can I get you anything?” he asked the pretty redhead.
Darren had a pretty busy week. He was out and about, recording, meeting up with people, preparing for next week. There was a lot going on but to say that his energy levels had gone down would have been false. Did he ever run out of energy? Not really. He always found himself bouncing around and doing something. He remembered talking to Khloe about dancing and since it was a nice night out and he didn’t have anything for Grease, so it would be a nice outing.
He sent her a text about going to H2O for some dancing. It would be fun, and they could bond some more, Darren had had already been enjoying talking with her, and chatting at some of the events. He got dressed, fixing himself up and humming a random tune to himself as he got ready to go.
Halloween had never really been Santana’s thing. Yes, it was a great excuse to dress up in too tiny costumes and look hot as hell, but what really was the point with all of that when she looked smoking on the daily. As she had grown older, though, and realized just how many parties were thrown thanks to this holiday, she had gotten a lot more excited. Especially when Kurt had announced that his boss at Vogue had let him arrange the Halloween party this year, and that he could easily get them all in. However, it also meant facing Dani, something both Kurt and Rachel had called her out on several times, their lack of knowledge being the only reason.
Santana knew how her friends would react if she told them the truth about she and Dani, and she would much rather wait for as long as she possibly could until breaking the news to them. Instead, as what she assumed would be a distraction from their side, Kurt and Rachel had decided to set her up with some girl Kurt knew from Vogue. If she was a model or something like it, Santana didn’t know, all she’d gotten was a name and the promise of a good time. It wasn’t like she was complaining, because this meant that she wouldn’t have an excuse to talk to Dani as soon as the blonde entered the building. Santana knew that she had to slow down a little, because she didn’t want to scare her former girlfriend further away, but judging by the texts they had exchanged earlier that week, she wasn’t even close to that point.
Her costume this year was simple, Pocahontas pretty much perfect for her skin tone, and she had for once not laughed when Kurt had suggested it. Yes, the boy had mentioned Satan first, but Santana refused to go as herself, so therefore the Disney character seemed better for the event. She had arrived with Rachel, Kurt being in the building for hours to prepare, and they had both lost their jaws as they’d seen the place. It looked amazing, and Santana had even let a few compliments slip from her lips as she had looked around the place before finding herself a glass of champagne. It had probably only been five minutes before Rachel tapped her on the shoulder, girl in hand, and introduced her to Natasha. The woman was pretty, there were no doubts, and Santana easily fell into the conversation as Rachel left them be.
The better part of an hour had probably passed by now, and Santana was leaning against one of the walls as she and Natasha kept talking. Had they met under other circumstances, Santana might have found her interesting enough to actually put some effort into everything, but when her eyes kept gazing towards the entrance, there really wasn’t much to it. When she finally caught sight of Dani, however, she had to stop herself from staring. She fucking hadn’t.
Santana took a long sip from her drink, and turned her head as fast as she could to keep playing interested in whatever Natasha was talking about. Out of the corner of her eye, she could tell that Dani was greeting Kurt, and she had to bite into her lip to prevent herself from turning her head and following all of her ex’s actions.
Description: Emily and Alison face their parents for the first time as a couple when Emily's parents throw a New Year's Eve Party. There's tension but the pair decide to celebrate and welcome the New Year together, sharing a kiss at the end of the evening.

Alison got out of the shower, wrapping a towel around her hair and one around her body. She was planning on slaying tonight with how good she looked, as always, but she was also nervous. The last time she had been over at the Fields house hadn’t turned out so great, and she doubted Pam even knew they were coming. But she hoped the woman would come around eventually. Ali knew how much it hurt Emily to have her mother be so unaccepting of her sexuality. She set to work getting ready for the night, blow-drying and then crimping her hair, putting on her makeup and then applying lotion to her just-shaved legs so they wouldn’t chap and get all nasty in the cold, and then finally changing into her outfit. It was simple compared to stuff she usually wore, but it reached the look she was going for, sexy and elegant at the same time. It was solid black and ended just above her knees, and she knew just how hot she looked in it. Hopefully Emily would like it. She headed into the bedroom they were sharing at Hanna’s house to wait for the girl.
Emily felt anxiety settle into her stomach as she fidgeted with her newly manicured midnight blue nails. She knew her parents weren’t so accepting of her sexuality, especially her mother. But since they were throwing a New Year’s Eve Party, she knew that it was probably for the best if she were to show up. Emily decided on putting on a dark blue dress that matched her nails, which had a little bit of a cage-cutout neckline. It didn’t reveal much, luckily, but she loved the edgy look it gave off. Her hair was naturally wavy, which she left it as that after applying some product to it, leaving it shiny and effortless. She heard footsteps entering the room and Emily looked up, her mouth instantly becoming dry and her eyes widening at Alison. “Um….I-I.. You look… wow.” she stammered, blushing a little.
Alison smiled a little at the sight of her girlfriend. She looked beautiful without trying, even when she was wearing sweats, but the sight of her in that dress did something to Alison. She was absolutely stunning, and Ali felt like the luckiest girl in the world for being able to call Emily her girlfriend, especially now that they were out. “So do you. You look especially ‘wow’ tonight,” she teased with a smile. She grabbed her keys and her phone. “You ready?” She asked, knowing that tonight wasn’t going to be easy for either of them, but willing to fight through it.
Emily narrowed her eyes jokingly at Alison as she teased her choice of words. She nodded in response to her question. She let out a breath, picking up her coat and her purse. “I really hope this will be okay.” she said as they walked out of the guest room. Making a small turn in the hallway, Emily began the path down the stairs and to the front door of the Marin household, glancing over her shoulder to look at her girlfriend.
Alison ”It’ll be fine.” She followed Emily out of the room and to the front door. “Your parents love you, Em, okay? And even all of this won’t be able to change that. I bet your mom will take one look at you and break down.” She headed over to her car, unlocking it and holding the passenger side door open for Emily.
Emily A sigh of disbelief could be heard as Emily shook her head. “I’m not too certain about that. When my mom hates something, she sticks to it.” she said with a shrug. Walking to Alison’s car, she thanked her as she opened the passenger door open, pecking her on the cheek with a little giggle. Sliding into the passenger seat, she buckled her seatbelt and waited for Alison to get inside the car.
Alison ”Even her own daughter?” Alison raised an eyebrow. “I don’t think she’s that cruel, Em. At least for your sake I hope she’s not.” She giggled as well when Emily pecked her on the cheek, heading over to the drivers’ side and getting in. She buckled her own seatbelt and then pulled out of the driveway, heading to Emily’s parent’s house. She took her girlfriend’s hand as she drove, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
Emily giggled a little bit. “True. Wait, what about your mom? Do you think she’ll accept you?” she asked, slowly. As they began the short drive to Emily’s house, she occasionally glanced out the window until she felt Alison’s warm hand over hers. She intertwined their fingers as she lifted their hands up, pressing a kiss to the top of her girlfriend’s hand. She loved how caring they were towards each other, especially when they were nervous about a situation. Once they pulled up the driveway, Emily stepped out and closed the door behind her, crossing her arms to shield her from the cold as she just stared at the house for a little bit.
Alison ”I don’t know, Em…” she said slowly, glancing over at the other girl briefly as she drove. “My mom’s not like your mom, y’know? I mean, all of our parents are really religious, but my mom’s just psychotic about it. I’m surprised she didn’t throw a Bible at me when I told her.” Ali shook her head, feeling disgusted that she was related to that woman. A brief smile crossed her face when Emily kissed her hand. That was one of the things she loved most about the girl- she made her feel loved even with the smallest of gestures. She got out of the car, standing next to Emily as she just stared up at the house. “We don’t have to do this if you don’t want to,” she quietly reassured the girl.
Emily listened as Alison spoke, feeling bad that she had to deal with this. “I know, I thought she was actually going to handle it alot worse.” she said, shaking her head. “I really wish she was more accepting towards you.” Emily remarked. Once they pulled up to the house and she stood outside, Emily shook her head. “No, no… let’s go inside. It’s better to face them now anyway. ” she said with a little smile before placing her hand in Alison’s. Walking up to the house, she stood on the porch after walking up the steps, ringing the doorbell.
Alison ”Alright.” She kept her hand firmly in Emily’s as they walked up to the front door, heart beating so loud in her chest she was surprised Emily couldn’t hear it after the girl rang the doorbell. Luckily, Wayne answered the door, and a look of shock but happiness came upon his face when he saw them standing there. It was clear that he missed his daughter. “Emmy.” He reached forward, wrapping Emily into his arms.
Emily used her thumb to brush against Ali’s hand, comforting her as the door opened. A small smile played on her lips as she saw her dad, relief settling over her for a few moments. “Dad. Happy New Year’s Eve.” she said as she hugged him tightly, nuzzling her head onto his shoulder. She loved her dad for always being someone who wouldn’t judge her as harshly. After a few moments, they pulled away and he leaned over to Alison. “Come here, you.” he said to her with a soft laugh, wrapping her into a hug. Emily chuckled softly, but froze as she heard her mom’s voice echo through the house.
Alison grinned, happy that Emily’s dad didn’t hate her as she hugged him back. “Hey, Wayne, it’s nice to see you again.” She paused in her motions as well though when she heard Pam’s voice. “I’ll be right back,” he said, heading back into the house to warn his wife of their presence in the house. “Well, it’s going well so far,” she whispered into Emily’s ear.
Emily nodded as her dad said he would be right back, turning to look a little at Alison. “Not too surprised with my dad.” she said with a little chuckle. As they stood there, she could hear a bunch of chatter in the large living room, looking over to see a room full of guests. Emily waved to a few of her mom’s colleagues, hearing the clicking of approaching heels.
Alison smiled nervously at the people in the room, half-expecting them to throw rotten fruit at the couple, but they didn’t. Either they didn’t know (which was doubtful because they were standing there holding hands) or they just simply didn’t care. Pam came around the corner, awkwardly hugging her daughter. “Emily. I’m glad that you’ve come back.”
Emily moved her attention away from the people and towards her mom, a smile barely reaching her lips. “Yeah, Happy New Year.” she said, unsure of the hug as she cautiously patted her mom’s back. A strained smile came over her as she pointed to Alison. “You should say hello to Alison too.” Emily said with a tense tone to her voice. Pam slowly turned to Alison, a look of displeasure on her face but she attempted to cover up with a fake smile and a forced laugh. “Nice of you to join us, Alison.”
Alison Well, two could play that game, she thought to herself when she noticed the look of displeasure on Emily’s mother’s face when she saw the blonde, and she twisted her facial expressions to watch the look. No one was gonna get away with being bitchy to her. She slipped her hand back into Emily’s. “It’s very gracious of you to allow us to be here, Mrs. Fields.”
Emily ‘s eyebrow raised as she noticed the little war sparking between Alison and her mom. She lightly squeezed Alison’s hand, hoping it’d calm her down. But, she wasn’t very happy with her mom’s behavior. A small smirk played on her lips as she noticed her mother’s anger become apparent in her features. She instantly stepped forward towards the couple, separating their hands. “Stop it. The both of you. This is stupidity.” she hissed at them in a sharp whisper.
Alison crossed her arms, cheeks turning red out of anger when Pam separated their hands. What she really wanted to do was slap her silly, but she managed to control herself by looking at Emily. No matter how much of a bitch she was she was still Emily’s mom. “It’s not stupid. It’s love, and you know what? I think you should accept that because your daughter has been miserable since you rejected her.”
Emily licked her lips a little as she looked down towards the ground and back up at Alison shortly after. She avoided her mom’s gaze, listening to what Alison said. She was right, Emily was more miserable after everything that happened. Pam’s expression softened and she placed a hand on Emily’s arm. “Is that true?” she asked and Emily gave her a bewildered look. “Is that a serious question? After the way you reacted, would you be happy if grandma did that to you and dad?” Her voice was laced with anger. Pam sighed, placing her hands on her daughter’s cheeks. “I’m sorry…you’re right.” she said, defeated. “But can you try to slow down? I need to swallow all of this.” she said, looking between Alison and Emily.
Alison glanced over at Emily, relieved that her words had gotten Pam to calm down somewhat and realize how her actions were affecting her child. She nodded her head at the woman’s words, not exactly thrilled with the request but finding it reasonable. “I think we can manage that, for the time being. I’d rather see Emily be happy than sad like she’s been lately.”
Emily slightly scowled at the idea of having to slow down, though she didn’t know what her mom meant by that. Pam nodded at them before nodding to the living room. “I’ll be in there, feel free to come in and join us. Oh, and Alison, your mother is here.” she said with a smile. Emily’s eyes widened in shock as her mom walked over to the living room when her dad called her over.
Alison felt her heart drop at Pam’s words. Her mom was here? Here? She turned and hurried into the living room, beckoning for Emily to follow her. She spotted her mother and Jason almost immediately, their blonde hair that was so like Alison’s making them stand out in the crowd to her. “Mom- what are you doing here?” She asked coldly, folding her arms over her chest.
Emily followed behind Alison into the living room, glancing around and spotting Jessica and Jason right away. Emily and Jason exchanged a quick smile before she tensed up at Mrs. DiLaurentis’s cold stare. “Enjoying a party. What are you two doing here?” She asked, looking over at them with disgust like they were scum. Emily gave her a look before she pointed to their surroundings. “I’m sorry? Last I checked, this is my house.” Gesturing around towards her parents, Emily gave her an icy look. “Although I would say, if it was truly my house, you wouldn’t be invited here.” Her voice was monotonous as her brown eyes straight into Jessica blue ones.
Alison was glad that Emily stuck up for the two of them, because suddenly she was finding it hard to breathe at her mother’s words and cold stare- her mother was truly the only person who could have that kind of effect on her. Jessica shook her head. “I’d appreciate it if you two went somewhere else. I don’t want God to strike you down with lightning and hit me.” Jason interjected at that point. “Mom, give it a rest, would you?”
Emily shook her head. "No thank you, we are actually content staying here. You are more than welcome to move elsewhere. It's a big house, you have legs...use them." she said with a smile. She silently thanked Jason for defending them as Jessica acoffed and rolled her eyes. The brunette looked at Alison, placing her hand on her arm gently. "Do you want anything to drink? I'm going to get some water."
Alison "It is Emily's house," she told her mother, eyes icy as they stared into her mother's. "And I'm not going anywhere." She looked at her brother, her lips turning up slightly when he told their mom to knock it off. She glanced over at Emily. "Yeah, thanks, I'll take some water, too." She turned back to her mom. "You disgust me," she said flatly.
Emily nodded as she walked to her kitchen, greeting a few guests along the way. She reached the empty kitchen, taking two glasses off the side table, dropping a few ice cubes. Grabbing the small pitcher her mom had off of the table and pouring some water into the tall glasses, she heard footsteps behind her and looked up to see her dad. "Are you girls okay? You seem tense with Alison's mother." Wayne said. Emily shrugged her shoulders as she gave him a little smile. "Well, she's not very accepting...apparently she thinks she'll be hit by a lighting bolt for standing next to her daughter and her girlfriend." Wayne chuckled to himself, and Emily joined in. "Well, if she gets hit by one, it's certainly not because of you two." Emily giggled as Wayne patted her on the shoulder. "Go. Enjoy the evening." he said. Emily nodded, making her way back to her girlfriend. Once she was in sight, Emily stood next to her, handing her glass of water over. "Here you go."
Alison "Thanks, Em." She smiled, taking the cup of water from her girlfriend and downing it. She hadn't realized how thirsty she was until Emily had given it to her, but she had been parched. "Hey, look, there's Spencer!" She pointed to where their friend was standing with her sister, and so she grabbed Emily, linking their arms together and heading over to her. "Hey, Spence. Decided to take the night off from the books?" She asked, giggling.
Emily took a sip from her glass, giving Alison an amused look. But soon enough, she pointed out Spencer and Emily walked alongside Alison, with their arms linked of course, waving to Spencer. Giggling at Alison's little joke, Spencer laughed along as well. "Very funny, but yeah, it's the sad truth." Spencer said. "You two look great!" she said, looking at both of them. Emily offered a smile, nodding towards Spencer. "So do you. I love your skirt."
Alison "Thanks." Alison grinned, giving a little mock twirl for Spencer to show off the way her dress rose and then floated down around her. "It's seriously cute," she agreed with Emily about Spencer's skirt. "I see you ditched plaid for tonight. Maybe avoiding plaid can be your New Year's Resolution?"
Emily smiled over at Alison as she twirled, laughing a little. Spencer shook her head, clapping her hands. "Bravo." she joked. "Oh, you think so? Thanks! I got it this Christmas." she said. Emily nodded in approval. "I might ditch plaid. Good idea, Alison."
Alison "Looks like Mama and Daddy Hastings have good taste," she said in approval, nodding her head. "Tell 'Santa' I said good job." She tapped her finger to the side of her head. "Always thinking," she joked, and then she glanced over at the clock, eyes widening. "Wow, Em, it's almost midnight."
Emily smiled as Spencer and Alison conversed. She caught onto Alison's shocked expression, looking at the clock herself. "Oh wow.. Time flies." she said, incredulously. Her dad called everyone to the middle of the living room to watch the ball drop. Emily looked around, noticing how everyone was with either their family or significant other. Her parents were together, along with Alison's parents. It seemed like everyone was coupled up. Her eyes drifted to the screen, seeing that there was nearly five minutes left. Emily turned her head to look at Alison, offering her a shy smile.
Alison watched the screen aptly. She couldn't believe that in just five short minutes it would be 2015- it seemed like 2014 had just flown by. It had had its ups and downs, but overall it hadn't turned out too badly. She had gotten Emily out of it all, hadn't she? She returned the little smile that Emily gave her. "Happy almost New Year, Emily. Got any New Year resolutions?" She asked curiously.
Emily definitely thought 2014 could have turned out worse, but she was thankful it didn't. She learned a lot of things and she was happy that she was embracing herself a little more. "Happy almost New Year to you too, Alison." she said softly. She tilted her head to the side as she thought of her resolutions, but most of them were basic, like doing well in school or become captain of the swim team. But there was one she wanted to do. "I want to stop caring so much about what others have to say...live in the moment, I guess you can say." Emily shrugged. "How about you?" she inquired.
Alison nodded her head thoughtfully at Emily's resolution. It sounded well thought out. Everyone could need a lesson on how to mind their own business, including Alison. "Yeah, I was thinking along the same lines, actually. I mean, we spent so long hiding our relationship, and for what? I'm fabulous," she joked, tossing her hair over her shoilder.
Emily smiled slightly, agreeing with Alison. "Yeah, I feel like we should embrace the fact that we've came this far too, why should others bother us now?" she reasoned, shrugging her shoulders. Hearing the countdown begin, Emily chuckled at the excitement and enthusiasm the guests had. New Year's Eve was always fun and everyone was always looking forward to leaving the past year behind. The brunette couldn't help but glance at Alison as it got seconds closer to midnight.
Alison excitedly watched as the clock ticked down, getting closer and closer to her mind. She closed her eyes, thinking of the old and used version of Alison DiLaurentis that she was leaving behind in 2014- and she knew she was excited for the whatever the New Year would bring. Once the clock finally ticked to midnight everyone turned to each other, hugs and kisses all around, and so Alison instinctively turner to Emily, leaning over and pressing their lips together.
Emily had a feeling that 2015 would be a hell of a lot better than 2014 was. Not that it was bad, but she had better expectations for the new year. Watching as everyone started to embrace and kiss, she smiled back over at Alison before her eyes fluttered shut. Their lips connected into a kiss and Emily rested her hand on her waist, gently pulling her closer. Behind her, she heard a gasp and Emily inwardly rolled her eyes. Pulling away a few moments after, she embraced Alison into a hug. "Happy New Year, Ali." she said softly.
Whenever it came to new places, Saul wasn't a fan, especially to a full change. It made him go crazy so he could understand why Annie wouldn't be ecstatic about moving schools though with his time at college, he wouldn't be able to get her across town on certain days to get to the school she was currently enrolled in and he thought it might be best to leave her old life behind and start a fresh in a nicer place. They wouldn't know about her past at least. Putting out the clean clothes for Annie for when she got out of the bathed, he couldn't imagine not being able to have fresh clothes everyday or to be denied a bath, even when he had days where he refused to shower at her age, his mother would always make him.
Sneaking into Mikayla's bathroom, whilst waiting for Annie after they had finished the rest of their book, Saul managed to find some pins and ribbon. Trying to recall the braids that he would tie in his cousin, Viola's hair when they were younger, she would always insist that he do it perfectly and learn so that one day when he had a little girl of his own, he would be able to put the practice to use and even still to this day, the braids would be put in but now he could plait his own child's hair. At some point he would need to buy some more things for Annie but that would be easier once that they were in the apartment.
