LUCAS

It had been ages since he had gone sailing; his dad fixed up boats in his spare time--that was what it was like growing up with a Marine. Life was pretty much set out for him and he didn’t mind it. He had always loved the ocean. When he started talking to Whitney, he didn’t expect much, but he was always happy to have an excuse to get out in the water again. 

He had also realized that he wasn’t sure if she knew how to swim or not, which meant he’d probably also have to keep tabs on that as well. He packed a bag with some of his things, a change of clothes, shoes, his phone and keys. As he was getting dressed, he debated whether or not to take his chain off. He rarely took it off; his dog tags were attached there as was his wedding ring. He pressed his lips to the silver band, and decided to set it aside for the day. If they were going sailing, he’d probably end up getting it wet somehow.

With a roll of his shoulders, he headed out, said goodbye to his in-laws for the day, kissing Sarah’s mother on the head with a smile and promising he’d be back before dinner to help her. With Whitney’s address plugged in on his phone, he headed to find where she lived, hoping he wasn’t too fashionably late.
