Alastair made quick work of getting over to Evelyn’s place. He wasn’t about to make her wait for him, after all. He’d been happy she’d texted him. Admittedly, he’d been thinking of her, and more than he’d anticipated. Turns out, getting to know someone makes you want to spend even more time with them.
He knocked on her door when he arrived and waited for her to answer.
Alastair sighed and rubbed his face. He was still slightly hung over and the slight fight with Tobias right after waking up hadn't helped things. neither had the argument with Levi. Seems like he was fighting with everyone these days. He was really hoping that trend wouldn't continue as he unlocked the door to Evie's place and let himself inside. "Baby?"
Avery ran her hand over her face as she tried to take a deep breather and swallowed thickly, since she knew that she had to talk to Alastair about what the comments he had made towards Levi. "In here." She called from her bedroom, wished that she hadn't left the hospital early.
Alastair followed her voice into the bedroom and stopped at the doorway. He knocked on the frame even though it was already obvious that he'd arrived. "Hey," he greeted softly. "How are you feeling?"
Avery sat up as she heard him and rubbed her hands against her thighs. "To be honest, not that great." She said as she didn't look at him and swallowed thickly. "What did you say to Levi, Alastair?"
Alastair sighed and looked to the floor. "In my defense I apologized several times after." He stepped into the room and took a seat on her bed. "I may have implied that I'm the one that's going to be here for you and the baby twenty-four seven and not him." He paused and rubbed his hands together. "And that I'm going to teach it to call him Uncle Levi. Told him I was kidding..."
"Why did you do that?" Avery asked as she looked at him and swallowed thickly. "Would you get upset if someone told you that you're going to be Uncle Alastair when in reality, you're the father and then got told that it's a joke? When you just found out that you're going to be a father?"
"I'm sorry," he replied quickly. "I'm fucking sorry, okay? You're right. It would upset me. It does fucking upset me. Because that's where I'm at, isn't it? I'm not the father. He is. And I didn't think-" he cut himself off with an unexpected sob and put his head down into his hands to cover it. "I didn't think that would make me feel like this. I'm fucking sorry."
Avery swallowed hard before she sat closer to him and rubbed his back. "Alastair...That's why you got drunk, right? Because you're not the father even though you really want to be the father?"
Alastair nodded into his hands, still not ready to let her see him crying openly. "It's fucking stupid, I know. I'd be a shit father but... I just think about a kid running around here calling you mum and calling me, what? Fucking Alastair?"
Avery sighed as he spoke and continued to rub his back. "Would you stop saying that you're going to be a shit father for once in your life? Do you not remember our conversation we had at the hospital?" She said as she looked at him. "Because I feel like you don't want to be apart of this, every time you say that and it breaks my heart. Also, we can focus on what the baby is going to call you, when things are settled down but for now, we have to make it through the first trimester."
Alastair wiped his eyes furiously and lifted his head to look over at Evie. "No," he argued. "I do want to be a part of this. I swear I do. I know I've been fucking things up the last two days but... I swear I'm going to do my best to do right by you, and the baby, and even fucking Levi."
Avery sighed as she removed her hand from his back and rubbed her face before she stood up. "I don't, understand why you didn't just tell me instead of getting shitfaced. I understand that there a lot of emotions going through your body but babe, if we're going to be together, we need to start communicating more." She grabbed a bag, then tossed some of her clothes in it. "Then be there for me, please and start letting me. Because quite honestly, if we don't do that, I don't know if our relationship can survive this."
Alastair frowned as she stood up. "I don't know if you've noticed but I'm sort of an emotional idiot. I'm trying though, because I do want to be together. I will communicate more." He watched her grab a bag and his eyes widened. "Where are you going?" Was she leaving him already? "Don't- please don't leave. I- fuck I-I swear I'm going to change. I won't drink again. Ever. I promise."
"That's all I'm asking, Alastair, is to communicate more." Avery sighed as she heard him and walked in front him as she cupped his cheeks. "I'm going to stay with your brother and the kids. I need rest and space for the evening because of what happened. I also need time process, everything."
Alastair stared back at her blankly, barely processing what she was saying. She needed space from him. "Okay. Do I- When can I see you again?"
Avery ran her fingers through his hair and rested her forehead against his. "Probably tomorrow or Monday, it won't be long." She said softly. "I'm sure you'll see me at the Pub or even can meet up here again but with emotions being high, it would be best for me to find somewhere to relax at and release any stress I have. Since it's not good for the baby and I already had a panic attack at the hospital last night, I don't need another one."
Alastair closed his eyes and clenched his fists into the bed sheets. "Okay," he replied. "I understand. I'll just.. I'll be at the Inn if you need anything then, alright?"
Avery placed her hands on top of his hands and kissed his cheek. "Hey, look at me." She said softly as she looked at him.
Alastair didn't want to look at her. He didn't want to watch her pack and walk away, even if it was just the weekend. He was being a selfish idiot, he was well aware of that fact. She needed to destress, to relax and rest. He understood that, but he just desperately wished that he could be the one she came to for that, not his brother. After a few stubborn moments he opened his eyes, another traitorous tear falling as he did.
Avery reached up and wiped away the tear as she met his eyes. "I love you, we're going to be okay and I don't want you to be thinking the worst okay? We can still text, call and even Facetime." She started to say before she straddled his hips and cupped his cheeks. "I also don't want you to be thinking that we're going to break up when we're not."
Alastair wrapped his arms around her in a daze. He processed her words and was happy she wasn't breaking up with him but he couldn't get past what she said. "You... love me?"
Avery nodded as she caressed his cheeks with her thumbs. "I do, which is why I need some space because if we don't, Im afraid we're going to be at each other's throats and I don't want that kind of environment for the baby."
"I love you too," he uttered quietly. It was the first time he'd ever said those words out loud to someone he wasn't related to.
"Im so glad that you said it again because I wasn't going to accept it when you were drunk last night." Avery said softly and pecked his lips.
"Drunk idiot, but an honest drunk idiot," he said against her lips. He held her against him, dreading the moment he'd have to let go so she could head to Tobias's.
Avery shrugged a bit. "I didn't want to accept it because you were drunk." She murmured back as she wrapped her arms around his neck and bit down on his bottom lip a bit.
Alastair turned away from the kiss to bury his face in her neck. He clung tightly to her. "Can you accept it now? God knows I'm fucking sober."
Avery sighed when he turned away from the kiss and felt him bury his face in her neck. "Yeah, I can." She said softly.
"I love you," he repeated. "I know we haven't been together that long so maybe I'm getting fucking ahead of myself. But you walked into my life and turned my whole fucking world upside down and now all I see is you. All I want is you." He clutched at the back of her shirt nervously and pulled away from her neck so he could look Evie right in the eye so she could see just how serious he was being. "I fucking love you, Avery. Every part of you. I want to live with you and raise that kid with you. And I know you still need space but when you're ready... I'll be here."
Avery cupped his cheeks and captured his lips in a kiss, not saying anything quite yet. "Thank you, so much." She murmured against his lips.
Alastair kissed her back with closed eyes. "Thank you for loving me," he replied. He was still unsettled about certain things and childishly upset that he'd have to go a few days without her, but with his feelings out in the open he felt that things might actually be alright.
Avery nodded before she kissed his forehead. "Thank you for loving me and being here with me through this." She said as she ran her fingers through his hair.
"Always," he replied softly. "It's going to be alright now. You just rest up with Tobias. I'll apologize to Levi again. I'll work things out with him and with Hunter. I'll take care of everything, okay? I promise."
"Please don't, mess things up again." Avery replied as she pulled away and stood in front of him. "Don't, joke about any of what you did with Levi to Hunter. Be civil and get shit figured out on your end."
Alastair reluctantly let her go and looked up at her. "I promise," he said again. "I will sort things out."
Avery nodded when she heard him. "Thank you." She reached for his hands and squeezed them. "I should get going."
Alastair squeezed her hands back and stood to join her. "Yeah, I should too. Text me later?"
Avery walked over to pack up her things, including her laptop. She grabbed her charger and nodded slightly before she glanced over at him. "That's if I don't fall asleep."
Alastair walked to the entrance of her room and waited for her there as she finished up collecting her things. "You probably should," he said. "You can text me tomorrow. Let me know how you're feeling after getting some rest."
Avery nodded as she placed her bag straps onto her shoulders, hoping it wasnt heavy. "Yeah, resting is a good thing and I will." She kissed his cheek and glanced around to make sure she didn't leave anything behind before she looked back at him. "Walk me to my car?"
"Yeah, of course. And here, let me take that." He reached out to grab her bag. "You probably aren't supposed to be lifting things, right?" Once she'd made sure nothing was missing he walked her to the door and locked it behind them. "Don't let Hazel Basil talk your ear off when you get there. You need actual rest, alright?"
Avery thanked him when he grabbed her bag from her and shrugged a bit. "Probably not but I am anyway." She mentioned as she led him to her car and opened up the boot. "I'll try not to let Hazel do it, since Im sure Hazel has a lot of things to say. I'll definitely try and rest, but Im not making any promises."
Alastair placed her bag into the car and then gave her a quick kiss before shutting it. "I wouldn't blame you if you do end up falling victim to her chatty ways. Haisley's hard to resist when she starts in on something." He took her hand and brought it up to his mouth to kiss her knuckles. "I'll see you in a few days then?"
Avery smiled softly as she listened to him and nodded. “I’ll keep that in mind, thank you for the tip.” She nodded as he kissed her knuckles. “Yeah, in a few days.” She kissed him and held out her hand. “Want to give me back my spare key?”
Alastair pouted but dug the key out of his pocket and dropped it into her hand. "You mean I don't get to keep it?"
Avery shook her head as she pocketed it. “Not yet, no. We have a long ways to go.” She said before she kissed him.
Alastair nodded. He was a little disappointed. But she was right and he was getting ahead of himself again. He kissed her back and then took a few steps from the car. "I love you. Text me when you get there? I know it'll just be a couple minutes, but still."
"Love you too and yeah, I'll text you." Avery said before she slipped into her car and got buckled up before she started her car. She waved goodbye to him as she pulled out of the driveway and started to head towards the pub.
Avery was excited to be showing off her skills in front of her boyfriend and have him watch her in action. However, she didn’t plan on getting seriously hurt and quite frankly, the lady should pay for her hospital bills. So she was on the bed, lying down when she woke up and glanced at Alastair and reached out for him. She knew that she wasn’t the prettiest sight to see, busted up lip, a black eye, a cut below her left eye. She noticed that her left hand wrapped since it got sprained in the ring when she tried to catch herself from failing. Which she was thankful that one of the bouncers caught her but that didn’t stop the lady from knocking her out cold. “Baby,” She whispered softly.
It hadn't admittedly taken quite a lot of self restraint for Alastair not to lose his shit on the women that knocked Evie out. It was a fair fight, he told himself, and she didn't need him stepping in. Of course, that didn't ease the worry. He'd very quickly taken he from the bouncer and driven her to the hospital, no need for ambulances or police involvement. When she finally woke he took hold of her uninjured hand as it was offered. "Yeah, Evie, I'm here. Gave me a little bit of a scare, darling."
Avery interlaced their fingers together as she basically pulled him into the bed with her. Once he was in the bed, she snuggled into him and pressed a kiss against the back of his hand. "Im sorry," She said softly as she glanced up at him and knew that she was ready to cry at some point.
Alastair got comfortable beside her, wrapping an arm around her waist and making sure not to upset any of her injuries. "It's alright, love. I'll just have to teach you to take a punch better," he joked. He kissed he jaw very gently and pressed his face into her hair. "Nurses are about somewhere. Took some blood from you. Said it was routine testing but you ask me, that just didn't believe me when I said you wasn't on any drugs."
Avery let out a small laugh before she let out a small ow. “You better,” She said as she listened to him, knowing that it was routine for them to take the blood. “I’m sure they believed you, baby. Also, did you tell Hunter & Patrick that I’m in here?”
Alastair winced at her pained reply. He hated seeing her like this. He stroked her hair and kissed her forehead. "Who?" he asked with an oblivious tone.
Avery gave him a knowing look. “My siblings who I’m not talking to at the moment.” She said as she felt him kissed her forehead. “Also your brother.”
Alastair rolled his eyes and laughed. "Yeah, yeah. I told them, don't worry. I'm sure they'll be here to annoy us at some point. Or I could tell them you're fine and to fuck off?"
Avery laid her head back down onto him and shook his head gently. "Not yet, no because I don't think they would believe you if you said I was fine and to fuck off."
Alastair sighed and continued to lightly stroke her hair. "Yeah, you're right there. They mean well at least, I suppose." They laid their a few minutes before the nurse came in. Alastair sat up in anticipation. "Well, she's all peachy keen then?"
Avery nodded slightly, then sat up when the nurse came in as well. “We would like to keep her in here for at least the next twenty four hours, for observations. She has a few bruised ribs.” She looked at Avery and then at guy then back at Avery. “Everything showed up normal on the blood test and maybe stop the fighting, since in few months, I don’t think your significant other would like to put you and your baby at risk. You’re very lucky that there wasn’t any damage to the fetus or you guys would have a different talk. So congratulations are in order, you guys are pregnant.” Avery could feel her heart dropped and swallowed thickly. She couldn’t be pregnant. She didn’t have any of the symptoms, sure her period was late but that was normal for her. “I would say you are a month along. I’ll leave you guys alone.” The nurse left the room and Avery pulled away from Alastair.
Alastair was numb to the news. He didn't even react when he felt Avery pull away from him. He blinked, staring at the door where the nurse left them. Pregnant. Avery was pregnant. With a baby. His baby? What had the nurse said? "You're a month along," he said aloud.
Avery shook her head as she heard him. “There must be a mistake, I’m not pregnant. I can’t be pregnant.” She said as she started to feel a panic attack coming and gripped the railing. “I-I’m not having this baby. I have my whole life ahead of me. I want to, go into the city with you and act like fools. I want to take you to Italy and have you meet my family. I want to get drunk with you, then have drunk sex. No, this can’t be happening.”
"You're not drinking if you're pregnant," he said automatically. He sighed and stood up. He brought his hands up to rest behind his head and he began to pace the room while staring at the ceiling. "Fucking christ," he murmured to himself. "Who's the father?"
“I don’t even know if I want to keep the baby, Alastair.” Avery admitted as she looked at him as he stood up and swallowed thickly when he asked her the question. “....Levi.” She could feel guilt wash over her and knew that she was about to cry.
Alastair rubbed his face and closed his eyes. He didn't know what he was supposed to think. His girlfriend was pregnant. That alone was terrifying enough. But then the fact that he wasn't even the father hit him harder than he thought. "I cant..." He walked out of the room and closed the door behind him. He got all the way outside of the hospital before he sat down on the ground with his head in his hands. What the fuck was he supposed to do. "FUUUCK!" He screamed loudly into the open air. He got a few stares but couldn't be fucked to care. He shot off another text to his brother and headed back inside.
Avery watched him walk out and pulled her legs close to her body, swallowed hard once he shut the door. She tried not to cry since she didn’t want the added stress and ran her hand through her hair. She was going to get rid of the baby, that was it. She was going to get rid of the baby and flee to Italy. She literally wasn’t in the shape of being a mum right now, she wanted to continue fighting and now she can’t even do that. What the hell is she supposed to do, now? She didn’t want to have a baby with Levi. Deep down, she wished Alastair was the father instead.
Alastair walked back into the room and saw Avery close to tears. He felt like a selfish prick for walking out but he was feeling a lot of things he couldn't deal with. He sat next to her in the chair by the bed. "You don't have to get rid of it if you don't want to," he said. "Levi's a peice of shit, but he's not a deadbeat. He'll help when you tell him." He sighed. "Or you can get rid of it. Its up to you."
Avery couldn’t look at Alastair in the eye as he spoke and wrapped an arm around her torso. “What about you?” She asked above a whisper then looked over at him. “What are you going to do?”
Alastair sighed again and ran a hand through his hair. "I don't know, Avery. I'm not fucking cut out to be a father." He fought the urge to stand and start pacing again. Instead he just shifted forward in the chair. "Told you before any kid of mine would turn out to be a violent peice of shit, just like me." He scoffed. "So I guess you're lucky its not mine."
Avery glanced over at him and swung her legs over the bed to place her hands on his thighs. “Listen to me Alastair Wilde and you listen to me good. You are fucking soft with me and took care of me while I was out cold. So don’t sit here and tell me that you’re not cut out to be a fucking father when you know damn well any child would be lucky to have dad like you. You’re a great uncle, sure I haven’t seen you interact with them but I know it in my heart that you will be a great dad to my baby. You will love it as your own and will protect it like it it’s flesh and blood.” She paused as she kept eye contact with him. “I wish that you were the father, not Levi. I am not lucky it’s not yours. Now, go away with that talk or oh so hope me god, I will drag you by your coat, out of this hospital and put you on your brother’s porch myself. Because you are a gentle guy, you have showed me care, kindness and love. You opened up to me about your nightmares when you didn’t need to do so, but you chose to do so. Any man of that, is worthy of being a father.”
Alastair composure crumbled at her words. His eyebrows scrunched together and he could swear he was on the verge of tears himself. She almost made him wish it was his as well. Part of him did, in fact, but he was conflicted and so fucking scared. She said such kind things about him and he wanted to believe her. He shook his head. "You don't know what kind of man I really am Evie." He balled his hands into fists. "I've fucking beat men to death for looking at me wrong."
Avery covered his hands and gave them a squeeze. “So? That doesn’t make you a monster or a terrible dad from the gate. These hands,” She brought them and kissed them before she opened them up then placed her face into his hands. “Have also done a lot of good things, soft things like playing with your family, holding my hand and other things you have done that I don’t know about. Just because you’ve done that stuff, doesn’t make you a monster, Alastair. I understand it’s easy to focus on the bad stuff, but focus on the good stuff, as well. The good and bad, go hand and hand and these hands have seen both.”
Alastair let out the breath he didn't even realize he'd been holding inside. A tear slid down his face and he felt pathetic. He hadn't know how scared he was of her reaction until she'd given it. She had no idea how much he'd needed to hear her say he wasn't a monster. He pushed forward to kiss her and then held their foreheads together. "I'm not going anywhere," he finally said. "If you keep it... I'll be here."
Avery cupped his cheeks and wiped away the tear. She returned the kiss as she let her own tears roll down her cheeks and brushed her nose against his. “Good because I’m not letting you go, not ever.” She whispered back to him. “Help me raise it? And love it like it’s your own? Raise it as your own, care for it as your own? Protect it as your own?”
A spark of panic went through him again. What if he fucked it all up? Kids were easy to fuck up, weren't they? And he was fucked up enough just on his own. He took a deep shakey breath and closed his eyes. "I'll fucking try," he answered.
“That’s all I want, because like it or not. You’re stuck with me, Wilde.” Avery said as she started to caress his cheeks. “Baby and all.”
Alastair chuckled despite the situation. "Think you got that backwards, love." He sighed again, this time more out of emotional exhaustion than anything else. "We'll need to tell Levi at some point. It annoys me to say it, but he deserves to be involved." He paused. "That is... if you've decided?"
Avery shook her head after she pulled away slightly. “I don’t think so.” She said as she pecked his head as she tried to stifle a yawn. “Yeah, I know. And I have, so it looks like we’re going to be parents.”
"Oh, fuck. Christ, what are we getting ourselves into?" He took another deep breath and then pulled away from Evie so he could point a finger at her stomach and staring as if he could see the growing child within. "You better be a fucking girl is all I'm saying, alright?"
“I don’t know but I’m excited to see where our journey takes us.” Avery said as she ran her fingers through his hair. She laughed before she moved over so he could get onto her bed. “So she can be like her mum and kick the boys’ ass.”
"If she's lucky she'll be all you without a trace of me or Levi." He crawled onto the bed next to her. He wrapped his arm around her rested his head on the pillow just above hers. "Could be a bad night," he confessed. "All this going on in my head... thinking about a kid now... nightmares will probably hit hard tonight. Might not be a good idea for me to stay the night."
Avery snuggled into him and kissed his neck. “And that’s okay, I just want you to hold me before you go for the night.” She said as she looked up at him when she rested her chin on him. “If you do end up having a nightmare, can you let me know? That way I know you’re okay, for the most part?”
Alastair looked down at her and nodded. "Yeah, I can do that," he replied. He shifted his hold on her, being careful to mind her injuries, and pressed a kiss to her forehead. "When we get back to the Village you'll have to go see our family doctor. We'll set up on of those ultrasounds."
“Thank you, baby.” Avery said as she closed her eyes when he pressed a kiss to her forehead. She nodded as she interlaced their hands together and caressed the back of his hand with her thumb. “Sounds good to me. Then I’ll start the prenatal vitamins and tell work that I can’t continue doing the underground fighting ring story. Even though the pay is nice.”
"Mm, fuck the pay," he mumbled into her hair. "I'm paying for everything now." As far as he was concerned Avery was now his to take care of. She'd never work another day if she didn't want to.
Avery glanced up at him. “Do you enough money to pay for everything?” She asked softly as she started to rub his side.
Alastair paused, realizing that she really didn't know anything about his family or their business other than the fronts they'd told her about. "Yeah, more than, darling. Don't you worry about that." He'd have to discuss more than just his baby fueled emotional meltdown with Tobias, and soon.
Avery nodded as she rested her head onto his chest and closed her eyes. “Okay.” She said as she gotten comfortable and knew that she was exhausted from everything.
Alastair stroked her hair and watched as she began to nod off. "Rest for now. I'll wake you before I leave."
Avery snuggled into him. “I’m not tired.” She murmured softly, knowing that she was going to fall asleep at any moment.
Alastair rolled his eyes and continued the soft motion of his hand in her hair. "Yes you are. Sleep. I'll still be here when you wake up."
Avery snuggled more into him and let her eyes close. “Do you promise that you will be here when I wake up?”
Alastair nodded his head slowly and hummed in response. "Yeah, baby. I promise."
Avery swallowed thickly as she closed her eyes and drifted to sleep shortly after that.
Who: Evie Clarington & Alastair Wilde (guest appearance by Gabriel Hummel and mention of Tobias Wilde)
Where: The Red Lion Pub
When: 04/16, 7PM
Triggers: Mentions of sex and violence
Alastair stretched his arms up above his head as he came down the stairs from his brother's place. He'd been spending a bit of quality time with the kids while their dad was doing his little interview or whatever it was. He hadn't really been paying much attention when Tobias explained. All he knew was that it was due to be over soon and he was hoping to convince his brother to finally stay down at the bar and drink with him for once. He had not expected the meeting to be with such a beautiful woman. He recognized her even; she was the one who'd been punched by a tourist. And, more interestingly, the one he'd seen threatening Levi for flirting with her. That was a woman he'd like to know a little better. He could convince his brother to drink with him some other time. He waited around out of sight for a few minutes, just long enough for them to wrap things up and part ways. Then, before she could head out, he came up by her side. "Hope my brother didn't bore you to much."
Evie thanked Tobais as she stood up from the booth and started to head towards the door as she placed her backpack strap across her chest. She slightly jumped when she heard Alastair's voice, turned around and gave him a smile before she shook her head. "Not really, no." She replied as she placed her hands onto the strap as she looked at him. "It was quite interesting, actually."
"Tobias? Interesting? You must have been speaking with an imposter." He leaned back against the booth she'd just been occupying and smirked at her. "See, I'm the interesting one," he teased before reaching out a hand in greeting. "Alastair Wilde. I've seen you around, would love to put a name to the face."
"Then I guess I need to get a hold of your brother, to make sure that one is your actual brother." Evie teased with a soft smile as she turned her body towards him, listened to him and rose an eyebrow. "Are you?" She reached out and shook his hand. "Evelyn Clarington, I can say the same goes for you. I was wondering who the other guy was, running around here."
Alastair shrugged with the same playful smirk. "Oh, I don't know. Imposter running around; could be fun." He took a seat at the booth and gestured next to him. "I'll tell you all about the other guy if you let him buy you a drink."
Evie slowly nodded, knowing that he had a point and sat down next to him after she took off her backpack. "Sure, I'd like that." She replied as she gave him a smile. "So, tell me about this other guy."
Alastair chuckled and leaned back in the booth. "Well, he's the much more talented brother, for starters. Does all the heavy lifting for his big brained counterpart." He looked over at the bar and caught Gabriel's eye, waving him over. The man rolled his own eyes before submitting to the nonverbal request. "You know I'm a bartender, not a waiter, Alastair." Alastair just gave him a cheeky grin. "But you love me. I'll have a John Collins and she'll have," he turned to her to finish.
Evie nodded as he spoke, rested against the booth as he spoke and glanced over to look at Gabriel. "I'll have whiskey on the rocks, thank you." She replied before she looked back over at Alastair. "What does the heavy lifting involve? Barrels? Cases of alcohol?"
Alastair laughed as Gabriel rolled his eyes again and left to make their drinks. "Yes, exactly," he joked. "That and other things. What about you though?" he changed the subject. "What are you into other than conducting interviews and getting punched by tourists?"
Evie let out a soft laugh as she shook her head. "That, actually never happened. That was actually a cover, since my mum's been in town and I know she would go nuts if she knew I've been fighting in an underground fighting ring."
Alastair's ears immediately perked up at that. "Fighting ring? That is... so much more interesting than a crazed tourist." He grinned and leaned forward. "And where is this fighting ring?" he asked. "And how is it that you ended up fighting there?"
"Its underground in London." Evie replied in a hush tone as she looked over at him with a smile and let out a sigh. "I’m actually doing an cover story about underground fighting clubs and figured I would go undercover for it."
"So it's just for a story then," he said with a teasing smile. He looked her up and down and then nodded knowingly. "But I bet you liked it. Maybe even got hooked on it."
Evie let out a soft laugh when she heard him and slowly nodded. "I am hooked on it for sure and I’m also great at it, too. However, I don't know if I’m going to continue after it."
"And why not?" He asked with clear disappointment in his voice. Gabriel took that moment to come over with their drinks, rolling his eyes once again as he dropped them off. "Love you too," Alastair called out to the man before turning back to Evie. "If you're great at something, why give it up?"
"I feel like my body can handle the beating for so long and I know my mum's going to be pissed when she finds out that I’m fighting." Evie said after she thanked Gabriel for the drinks and took a drink of hers. "Besides, I’m sure once I do the story, they're going to throw me out."
Alastair shrugged. "Sounds like it'd be their loss, not yours." He took a swig of his drink.
Evie crossed her legs as he spoke and nodded slightly, knowing that he had a point. "That's true," She said before she took another drink. "Maybe you can come out and see me in action."
Alastair put his drink up to his glass to keep himself from licking them in anticipation. After a moment he took another swig and set the glass back down on the table. "Yeah, think that might be something I'd like to see."
"Okay, cool. I'll let you know when the next match is." Evie said before she finished her drink and licked off the rest of the alcohol off of her lips.
Alastair's eyes followed the path of her tongue. "Hopefully I won't have to wait that long to see you again," he said with a questioning tone.
Evie couldn't help watch him watch her tongue, feeling brave, thanks to the whiskey and slid closer to him. She dipped her head by his ear and rested her hand on his shoulder. "If you play your cards right, I'll be yours for the weekend." She whispered into his ear and smirked as she scooted where she was sitting at.
Evie's voice ignited a fire within Alastair. He imagined her standing over him, whispering just like that, but in an entirely different situation. His eyes burned into her, his desire obvious, as she backed away. "And what hand were you hoping I play?" he asked, sticking with the metaphor.
Evie turned her body towards him, her cleavage visible now and smirked as she made eye contact with him. "A great one, at that." She said innocently as she twirled her ice around before she pulled out her card that had her number on it. "Oh let's say, you, fucking me so hard until I see the stars and us, rolling around in your sheets in pure ecstasy, me, not able to walk and you, leaving marks all over my body like I'm your property. Then us fucking in your shower, not getting enough of each other that you keep me Monday and maybe let me go on a Tuesday. That kind of hand." She paused for a minute. "Or, you take me out for dinner."
Alastair would vehemently deny that he made any sort of whining noise in response to her bold words. He did, however, clear his throat and take a moment to compose himself. "Both... very good options," he agreed while taking the offered card.
Evie nodded, reached over and took a sip of his drink. "Mhm," She placed it on the table and gave him an innocent smile.
Alastair just blinked at her in a daze. "Yeah, that's- Dinner, I could text you... uh, details." He honestly didn't even know what he was saying. All he really knew was how much he wanted her on top of him and how embarrassing it was going to be when the entire pub could see that.
Evie couldn't help but smiled as she looked down and met his eyes. "Good, also. Glad to know my words have affected you and I'll be wearing dark red lingerie underneath my clothes once we have dinner." She leaned over and gotten close to his ear. "Want me to help you, or are you going to imagine me giving you a blow job? While you're jerking off in the loo?"
"Fuck," he breathed out before closing his eyes and clearing his throat again. "I'm a little more civilized than that," he countered, shifting slightly in his seat. "Think I'll make it back to my room at the inn and jerk off in the bed instead."
"Well in that case, imagine me riding you." Evie said with a wink. "It was nice meeting you, Alastair. " She kissed his cheek, gave his thigh a squeeze as she scooted out of the booth and grabbed her backpack as she pulled out her wallet to pay for her drink.
Alastair stared after the woman as she left. He'd known upon approach that she was going to be interesting. But he'd had no idea she was going to turn him upside down like she did. One thing was for certain, he needed to get back to his room, asap.
quinn: took a small breath in as she rubbed her face as she waited in the car for her sister. she felt like it had been FOREVER since her and evie had actually spent a decent amount of time together. she of course missed the days when they would always see each other. as evie walked up to the car, q smiled, ' you ready to go then? ' she asked her younger sister.
Mia took out her phone and texted Evie. Once they had made plans, Mia drove to Evie's house to pick her up. She straightened up her clothes and hair before ringing the doorbell. Mia started to fidget and pull her coat closer to her body to keep warm in the Ohio winter.
Dragging herself to the hospital was something Aria struggled to do. It took several walks and retreating back to the car before she just said, "Fuck it!" and marched into the building. It wasn't because she didn't want to see Derrick, but it was because Aria knew if she sees him, those walls around her would crumble down to pieces and she'd act like a pathetic fool she predicted herself to be. The halls of the building were stark white and a strong pungent smell of antiseptics filled her nostrils as she made her way to Derrick's room. Upon reaching it, Aria peeked into the small transparent window. As expected, Evie was with him, in his bed. Initially she thought it was odd for her to get in bed with him. But Aria managed to look past it -- perhaps in dire times like this, it was better for both of them.
She took in a deep shuddering breath, exhaling out slowly before wrapping her fingers around the door handle and opened the door. "Hi," she greeted Evie softly. She peered over, seeing that Derrick was asleep. Her guts twisted as soon as her gaze fell on his frail and thin frame. Tear immediately filled her eyes. "Oh god, this is embarrassing," Aria said hastily, trying to wipe away her tears and at the same time moving towards Evie. "I'm... really sorry.. I just..." she gulped as she glanced at Derrick and back to Evie. "Can we... I..." Aria willed herself to stay strong. "We should talk outside or.. or go to the cafeteria... I don't want Derrick to wake up and see me in a fucking mess."
