Doubles Date Disaster
Who: Kurt, Blaine, Sebastian, and Todd
Where: Local Italian Restaurant
When: Friday, July 11th 7:00 p.m
Summary: Kurt, Todd, Blaine and Sebastian all go out for a double date, but things take an unexpected turn.
Blaine: Blaine helped Sebastian button up his jacket before rising on his tip toes and kissing his cheek with a soft giggle. "So handsome," he whispered in his ear. Sebastian couldn't help but blush, pulling away so he could return the compliment by signing as he spoke to him. The happy couple was excited for the double date, though Sebastian feared that Kurt's boyfriend Todd would act up as he did online and offend Blaine. Blaine, on the other hand, was looking forward to getting to know the guy his best friend was dating. Blaine watched Sebastian fondly once they reached the first floor of the apartment to yield a cab. They made it to the Italian restaurant and waited together on a bench outside. Blaine rested his head on Sebastian's shoulder and laced their hands together again.
Kurt as Todd and Kurt's taxi pulled up to the restaurant a few short minutes later, Kurt spied Sebastian and Blaine looking very cute together sitting on the bench. Kurt paid the driver and tipped him as well, and smiled to the his best friend "Hey Blaine." Kurt signed. He looked over to Sebastian and smiled at him, "Nice to see you again Sebastian." He took Todd's hand and looked over at Blaine again to finally introduce him. "Blaine, this is Todd. Todd, Blaine." Todd smiled to Blaine and extended his arm out to shake his hand. So far, so good, Kurt's thought to himself. "Well, I'm famished. Shall we wine and dine?" Kurt asked as he walked to the entrance of the restaurant.
Sebastian held Blaine's hand back and used the one free to rub his knee gently. He was pressing a few kisses to Blaine's head before he looked up at the sound of a car door. He saw Kurt and Todd approaching them, and with a sigh he helped his boyfriend to his feet. "Let's do this," he spoke as he signed. He could see Blaine was hesitant to walk forward to the other couple so Sebastian paused and added: "Everything will be okay. If there is a problem I will take care of it, promise." Once he got a smile from Blaine he greeted them and watched closely as Todd approached Blaine.
Blaine gave Sebastian a light smile once he felt calm enough to go and meet Todd. First he signed back a hello to his best friend and returned Todd's hand shake. He smiled as he whispered softly: "Hi". He nodded along to Kurt's suggestion and clutched Sebastian's hand tighter as they walked into the restaurant.
Kurt walked up the hostess and asked for their reservations he had made a few days prier, and all four of them were seated right away. It was a nice seating. Candles were lit the lights over all the tables had just the right amount of lighting to make the evening romantic. Kurt was just very excited that this event had finally gone through and the meeting with Blaine seemed okay, so Kurt just took at deep breath and kept his big smile on his face. "Well, I've been here once before and I will say that their four cheese pasta is heaven."
Todd sat next to his boyfriend and grabbed a menu. He was also here once before but, with someone else. "Hmm, I may have to try that hon." he said as he scanned the menu. Todd would be lying if he said he was happy to be here. Truth is, he really didn't want to be. All he wanted to do was just sit home, but Kurt had been wanting this for a while so it was bound to happen sooner or later. Todd was already not a fan of Sebastian's after their little chat the other day online so he planned on keeping his snide comments to himself. He knew how important this day was for his boyfriend since he was meeting his best friend, which Todd totally knew that he still has a crush on Kurt, but again, he will be keeping his mouth shut and hopes to have a nice dinner.
Blaine "That... that looks good, Kurt," Blaine spoke softly, feeling Sebastian rub his hand encouragingly and a slight blush on his cheeks. His eyes peered over his menu and up at Todd from time to time. A bit of a queasy feeling sat in his belly as he watched how Todd kept to himself. Since Kurt was his best friend he really wanted to make a good impression on his boyfriend, in hopes that he would like him and that they would want to hang out again. "I like your jacket, Todd," Blaine complimented. "Nice color."
Sebastian looked over his menu, trying to just focus on his boyfriend and not how much Todd got under his skin. He didn't want to start anything, so he decided to remain calm. He gave a smile to Kurt before questioning. "Oh really? How large of a serving does it come in? Maybe we can share, babe." He made sure to sign as he spoke the entire night so Blaine wouldn't fall behind in any of the conversation. He glanced up at Todd after Blaine spoke directly to him, waiting to hear what his reaction would be.
Kurt looked up from his menu to answer Sebastian's question. "Oh it's amazing. And I think it's big enough for two." Kurt signed as well so he also made sure that Blaine was in the conversation. He looked over to his boyfriend to see if he would want to share as well, but stopped himself when Blaine gave him a compliment.
Todd looked up from reading his menu at gave a smile. "Thank you Blaine. I really like your tie." Todd then continued reading the menu then decided what he wanted. "I think I'll go with their lasagna. It's really good....so I've heard." He closed the menu and looked up at Sebastian, "So, Sebastian, what do you do? Do you go to school or have a job?"
Blaine smiled as he ran his hand over his tie. "Thank you," he told Todd. "I bought it last week with this one." He gently bumped his shoulder against Sebastian's with a giggle before smoothing out his jacket sleeve and nodding to him. "We can share, 'Bastin. But I get my own bread. Remember that."
Sebastian shot a quick smile over at Todd, thankful he was being polite to Blaine. "Wonderful, then I think that's what we're going to get. Thanks, Kurt." He chuckled at his boyfriend and nodded. "Yes, sir. Your own bread, got it." He pushed some of Blaine's hair back before turning back to talk to Todd. "Well, I'm still attending school. For acting, that is. I was going to pick up a job this summer until the theatre offered me one. They have a production in the summer that needs work so they pay the students who help out. And what about yourself?"
Kurt chuckled. "Own bread Blaine? Sharing obsolete now?" He winked playfully at Blaine then to Sebastian. "Wow, that's great Sebastian. I plan on being on the stage as well. But, so far no auditions and work as got me on my toes." Just then the waitress came to take their orders.
Todd nodded as Sebastian talked to him about what he was doing. "Wow, that's cool. Sounds like something you would do honey." He looked at Kurt and smiled. "Well I'm studying journalism at NYU and I'm at an internship the Gazette. I plan on being a real reporter someday." When the waitress came by, he order for both him and Kurt and asked for extra bread as well.
Blaine covered his mouth as he let out a louder giggle. "I like my bread," he stated, winking back at Kurt. He glanced around the table as everyone explained their jobs. His hand rested on Sebastian's leg and he picked at the cotton on his pants while he got a bit finicky. He wished he had a job as interesting as the other men did, but honestly he was only working on a play that may or may not end up in a condition to publish. Even so, he kept a smile on and showed interest by nodding along.
Sebastian "Thank you, thank you. That's great, Kurt. Very neat we share the same interest. I'm a co-director at the moment for the play Barefoot in the Park. I starred in it a couple of years ago so it's been interesting being on the other side for the production. What kind of news would you like to cover, Todd? I hear there are all kinds of journalists." When the waitress came by their table, Sebastian ordered for himself and Blaine before handing both of their menus over. He then leaned over to kiss Blaine's cheek and gave him a warm smile.
Kurt "Well Todd and I will have to come see that production. I bet it will be wonderful." Kurt smiled at looked at Blaine. "So Todd, did you know the Blaine is a very talented artist and he also writes amazing plays in his spare time. I have yet to read his current one." A few seconds later, the waitress came back with their drinks. Kurt look at his boyfriend lovingly and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "When he play makes it to the stage, we will have to see it as well."
Todd took a sip of his water and answered Sebastian question. "Top news stories, but I'm leaning toward the Entertainment section because they seem to have more fun lately with all the celebs going into rehab now." Todd smirked when Kurt kissed his cheek. He place his hand on his leg and rubbed in soothingly. "Play huh? That's cool. So Seb, is it children's theatre you doing? Or are student involved?"
Blaine looked down into his lap as he shook his head and blushed at Kurt's words. "I wouldn't say amazing, but thank you. I hope I get to see it come to life someday. That would be great," he spoke with a smile. He giggled softly when Sebastian kissed his cheek and raised his head to kiss his forehead. He rubbed his back gently before reaching over to take a few sips of his iced tea. "Thank you for knowing me, baby," he told Sebastian, about knowing to order him raspberry iced tea instead of regular. He continued to watch as Todd went on to question his boyfriend.
Sebastian smiled at Kurt before responding. "That would be very kind of you guys. The show opens the beginning of August, so only a few weeks away." He then turned to Todd giving a subtle eye roll and putting on a smile. "Ah, how cutting edge of you. I'm sure you will be amazing at getting the dirt on other people. Actually, students /are/ involved as they are with every production at the school. After all, the characters in this play are much too old for children to be playing." He then gave a chuckle to Blaine and rubbed his arm. "Of course. You've had it enough times for me to know it's your favorite. And of course your play is going to make it to Broadway. Don't be silly."
Kurt reached over the table to touch Blaine's hand. "I know you will." He smiled once more and brought his hand back to hold his cherry coke to take a drink. Sebastian's comment kinda made Kurt uneasy because he knew Todd wouldn't take that lightly. And the 'childrens theatre' comment as well, didn't seem like the right thing to say. So Kurt tried to change the subject, "Yes, Blaine drinks that like his life depends in it." He chuckled
Todd scoffed as he took another drink of his water. "What makes you say that Sebastian? Enlighten me." He gave a big smiled though and ignored Kurt's comment to Blaine wanted to know what Sebastian thought of him more.
Blaine sipped on his beverage a little longer before lifting his head up and giggling. "It's delicious, you guys don't understand." He bumped Kurt's hand playfully back before pulling back when the conversation between Sebastian and Todd got heated. He shot a nervous glance at Kurt before glancing down at his tea and drinking more. The bread came to the table next and he quietly took some, still watching his boyfriend closely.
Sebastian "Oh, well I only meant since you're studying it you must know a lot about how to get a good story," Sebastian said simply. He then turned to help Blaine tear off some bread and get butter on it.
Kurt looked at Blaine at the same time when their conversation took a turn. He bit his lip and waited for Todd to respond back, with a nice reply hopefully.
Todd took a piece of bread that arrived at the table as well and nodded. "That I do Sebastian. I never turn a good story away. Even if it means I have to dig deep to get it."
Blaine "Thank you, 'Bastin," Blaine whispered as he started to nibble on his bread. He looked up and accidentally made eye contact with Todd. He gave a quick smile before looking back down.
Sebastian got himself a piece of bread once he was done helping Blaine and nodded to Todd. "That's a good way to look at your career. Who do you intern for?"
Kurt just sat their quietly drinking his coke since making another conversation was not the answer so he decided to just wait it out. I mean, the conversation was about to end sometime....right?
Todd looked over at Blaine when he gave a smile. Todd just went back to talking to Sebastian. "Yeah, determination is very important in a career. Something that you are familiar with I suppose. And Blaine I guess. I intern for Liam Smith. You may have heard of him. Or not." He quickly glanced over to Blaine but back to the basket of bread. He told himself he wouldn't make any snide remarks but, Sebastian was already getting on his nerves. Too late I guess.
Blaine watched Todd carefully and his smile faded after the glance he gave him. He had been used to when others subtly comment on his disability. He couldn't quite tell Todd's intention behind his comment, but he tried not to let it bother him by overthinking it. "No, I haven't. I don't know many reporters, sorry."
Sebastian 's eyebrows narrowed at Todd's comment. He exhaled heavily as he watched Todd look over at Blaine. He could see that Blaine was trying to ignore it, so he decided to do the same so he wouldn't start anything. "Nope, the name doesn't ring a bell Todd," he spoke with an obnoxious smile.
Kurt glanced over his shoulder to check if their food was coming. Luckily it was. "Oh look our food is coming. I'm starving. How about you guys. Both of you will love this pasta." Kurt was rambling on and on about the food so Todd wouldn't say anything else. Then the waitress arrived with their food and placed their plates in front of them. "You guys enjoy. Also I'll get you some more drinks." She said with a smile then left.
Todd was about to make one more remark before their food arrived. His lasagna looked cooked to perfection so he just wanted to enjoy his food.
Blaine "I am hungry, yes," Blaine replied quietly. He let out a shaky breath before their food came, giving a smile up at the waitress as she placed his and Sebastian's pasta in between them. He scooted closer to his boyfriend, nuzzling his nose against his cheek before getting them both forks and beginning to sample the food.
Sebastian thanked the waitress kindly before shooting a glance at Todd and taking his utensil from Blaine. "Thank you, sir. Aw, sweetie," he smiled at Blaine once he picked his head up from nuzzling him and kissed his cheek. He took a bite out of the pasta and gave a nod to Kurt in approval. "Delicious," he stated. "Very good suggestion, Kurt. You're the new food expert," he chuckled. He went to get another strand of pasta before realizing Blaine had went for the same one. He laughed again as he got an idea, continuing on to nibble on the pasta and urging Blaine to do the same from the opposite side. Once they both met down the middle, Sebastian cupped Blaine's cheeks and kissed him deeply.
Kurt chuckled. "Thank you Sebastian. I know my places when it comes to food." He smiled and dug into his pasta and feel into heaven with his first bite. When he was getting another bite he looked up to see Sebastian and Blaine sharing a kiss. Kurt just giggled and looked over at Todd who didn't see too happy about it.
Todd took a few bites of his food before he looked back up to see Blaine and Sebastian kiss right in front of him. Todd dropped his fork on his plate and wiped his face off with his napkin, "Look, I understand that you guys are like in love and shit, but we just got our food and I would like to eat in piece. You guys can play tonsil hockey when you are at home but not at dinner."
Blaine giggled as he caught on to what Sebastian was trying to do, and he played along right away. He quickly tore through that strand of pasta so he could meet his boyfriend's lips. Not even realizing it, Blaine let out a whimper as he wrapped his arms around Sebastian's neck and kissed him back with as much force. He didn't move until he suddenly felt Sebastian pull away. He frowned before looking over to realize Kurt and Todd were still there. His cheeks turned a dark red as he scooted away a bit and folded his hands back in his lap. "S-sorry! I... I'm sorry," his voice a bit shaky now. He then went back to picking at the pasta.
Sebastian was very much enjoying this intimate moment with his boyfriend before he heard Todd cut in, like he always seemed to have to do. He rubbed Blaine's arm as he pulled away to glance back over. "Alright... alright, we get it. No PDA, got it. Let's just eat," he muttered. He rubbed Blaine's back as he looked him in the eye. "It's okay. No one's mad, let's eat." He helped his boyfriend eat the pasta in silence for a while.
Kurt looked across from the table to look Blaine. He just mouthed 'I'm so sorry.' He was also growing upset since Todd was decided to speak his mind tonight. "Todd please, they just wanted to-" Just then he was interrupted by Todd.
Todd "You guy have been all touchy feely tonight and it's driving me insane. I kept my cool with it because I wanted to have a nice dinner. Like I said before, you guys can wait till you get home unless you can't that is. Then the bathroom is to you right." He took another bite of his food then said one more comment. "Ya know, it's a good think you're boyfriend is deaf. He wouldn't enjoy this conversation."
Blaine nodded to Kurt with a sad smile. He suddenly paused his eating as he watched Todd blow up at him and Sebastian. His mouth hung slightly at his bathroom comment, and as if he didn't already feel horrible enough he finally saw how Todd felt about him. Like others before who had judged him, all he could gather about him was his disability. It didn't matter that he liked art or wrote plays, or even that he was head over heels for Sebastian. He had wanted to get to know Todd, and when he discovered the feeling wasn't mutual it was like he had gotten punched in the stomach. He bit his lip, giving a nod before pulling the napkin off of his lap and whispering. "I-I need the restroom. Excuse me..." He got up from his chair then and quickly walked toward the back to the restrooms.
Sebastian felt his blood boiling as he listened to Todd, telling himself he had been right all along about this not working out. Todd needed to say everything on his mind without a filter, and he knew that would wind up hurting Blaine. Just as he was about to throw it back at him, he heard Blaine's soft voice as he got up and went to the bathroom. "Honey, wait-" was all he could get out while him and Blaine were still in eye contact. He let out a long sigh before staring back at Todd. "Why the hell did you have to say that? He can read your lips, moron. How else do you think he's been talking to you? Whatever, you're not even worth my breath. I need to make sure my boyfriend is okay." Without another word, Sebastian stood and quickly headed to the men's room to comfort Blaine.
Todd just shrugged it off as he watched Sebastian go. He took a few more bites of his food before he got up from the table. "I'm leaving. If you wanna come home with me, then I suggest you come with me now because I can't take much more of this. Or if you wanna stay, then stay." Then Todd proceeded to walk out the entrance of the restaurant leaving Kurt at the table alone with his thoughts.
Kurt just stared at Todd walking away from him. He couldn't believe the awful things he had said to Blaine and Sebastian. He felt so embarrassed and humiliated. Todd was never like this when they first met. He was Prince Charming, but now he has been changing and tonight was going to be the 'make it or break it' night. Kurt just sat their in silence, tears falling from his eyes and looking across the table to where Blaine stood. He couldn't possibly think of a way to make up for this. He just wish none of this ever happened.
