. . .you’ll never guess what i’ve been watching recently… okay it’s glee, damn. i’m re-obsessing over it </3

. . . glee!art donaldson, who damn near founded his college’s glee club. in my mind, he’s a lot like rachel but more subtly manipulative/controlling. yes, he gets every lead— but it’s not his fault! he loves when others try out for the same parts as him, actually. it reaffirms his own superiority. glee is something he’s great at; he clings to it, desperately.

. . . glee!art who bats his eyelashes just a bit as he offers you a printed poster (his own design!) advertising the glee club. he’s heard you sing once or twice, and you’d make a great duo with him. it helps that you’re cute, too.

. . . you might say no at first, but he’s persistent. donaldson has a class or two with you and he makes sure to bring up the glee club at least once each time he sees you. if you’re walking together, he’ll purposefully guide you past the glee room, never pushing you in but always reminding you that it’s there. it’s there, waiting for you (and so is he).

. . . glee!art who grins as he shows you off to the club. finally, you’ve joined. he urges you to sing a little snippet, then sits next to you as their director begins discussing their next numbers. warm ups come afterwards, though you can’t help but notice donaldson’s eyes on you as you softly sing the solfège.

. . . glee!art who convinces you to try out for half of a romantic duet. he doesn’t tell you he already has the other half of it; no need to ruin the surprise. when it’s revealed you’ll be singing with him for the duet, he takes it as an opportunity to invite you to his dorm. just practice, he swears. practice that ends with the two of you standing nose to nose, his eyes entranced by your lips as you sing… but you don’t kiss, so it’s still just practice.

. . . he’s not someone you’d call domineering or controlling. and yet, the club seems to depend on him for… everything. the only person who doesn’t consider his input is the director of the club (something art has definitely complained about to you). it’s a little strange that the other club members almost worship him (or, at the very least, stay out of his way), but you try not to mind it. he does a lot of good for the club, regardless, and it’s clear he cares.

. . . i’m not sure abt tashi & patrick in this au tbh… srry they’re not my focus here LMAO. maybe i’ll add them later. anyways, i’ll prob write more for this later esp for holiday time bc i think this concept wld be rlly fun then. and i know in the movie patrick is talent and art is training like sportswise but mike faist has canonically been on that musical stuff soo.... #glee!artreal

marauders glee club au because this is unfortunately extremely clear to me

madam hooch is sue sylvester. obviously. tracksuit. whistle. terrifying posture. deeply personal hatred of the arts. she sees one student sing in a hallway and immediately decides the school has fallen. she is constantly trying to destroy slughorn’s glee club, not because she actually cares that much, but because she needs a hobby and ruining his day is enrichment.

slughorn is will schuester, which is awful but correct. he starts the glee club because he genuinely thinks he’s changing lives, but he is also absolutely making everything about himself. he has favourites, he cries during performances, he gives deeply dramatic speeches about believing in yourself, and everyone has seen him rap once and agreed never to speak of it again.

mary as rachel is perfect because she would be so intense about being the lead. talented, ambitious, dramatic, convinced the entire club needs her specifically or it will collapse. she has a binder. she has solos planned. she has opinions on everyone else’s breathing technique.

james as finn is so real. well-meaning, popular, a little clueless, very golden retriever trying to understand theatre kid politics. he joins glee because it seems fun and then immediately ends up emotionally trapped between sports, music, and whatever romantic disaster is happening that week.

lily as mercedes works because she can actually sing and has the patience of someone constantly being underestimated by people with worse voices. she is absolutely the one standing there like, why am i not getting the solo when i am clearly carrying half these people vocally.

sirius as kurt is perfect in the most dramatic way possible. fashion. theatre. emotional monologues. complicated family feelings. absolutely serving looks in the hallway while pretending he doesn’t care what anyone thinks. he would also be personally offended by half the costume choices and fix them himself.

remus as artie is funny because he would be the tired one with actual musical knowledge, sitting there judging everyone’s timing. he’s not loud about wanting attention, but he is absolutely quietly keeping the whole thing from falling apart.

sybil as tina is weirdly perfect. strange girl energy. dramatic in ways nobody asked for. constantly overlooked until she does something deeply unsettling and everyone remembers she exists.

barty as noah puckerman is unfortunately too accurate. menace. problem boy. thinks rules are suggestions. probably sings something inappropriate and gets banned from using the microphone unsupervised. has one soft emotional moment and then immediately ruins it by saying something awful.

regulus as santana is everything to me. pretty, sharp, mean, talented, absolutely lethal with a one-liner. sits in the back acting like he’s above all of this and then opens his mouth and outsings half the room. slughorn keeps trying to make him share his feelings through song and regulus treats that like a personal attack.

pandora as brittany s. pierce is also perfect because she says things that sound insane, then somehow ends up being right. nobody knows if she understands what’s happening. she might understand more than all of them. she dances beautifully, wanders into scenes with devastating one-liners, and probably believes the piano is haunted.

as for quinn, i think there are two good options.

if we’re allowed to use extended black family, narcissa is the best quinn. blonde, polished, perfect pureblood princess, obsessed with image, raised to perform grace and control while secretly being a mess underneath. she has that exact “i am the prettiest girl in this school and also one bad day away from ruining my own life” energy.

if we’re keeping it to the main student group, alice could work as a softer quinn. not as mean, but very perfect-girl, rule-following, everyone expects her to be sweet and put together, and then there’s a whole emotional arc about how exhausting it is to be treated like the good girl all the time.

my personal pick is narcissa if she’s allowed in the cast.

narcissa as quinn gives you the best pureblood image drama, the perfect polished girl thing, the family pressure, the social status, and the secret softness underneath.

also narcissa and regulus as quinn and santana would be insane because that is just two black family pretty mean girls (plus sirius) in one glee club, and slughorn would not survive it. 

also i should probably say i have never actually watched glee.

i am going entirely off clips i’ve seen on tiktok, random bits i’ve googled, fandom osmosis, and the general cursed energy the show seems to radiate.

so if i’ve mischaracterised a glee character, that’s why. i do not know these people properly. i just saw the vibes, assigned dead gay wizards to them, and ran.

this is me looking at santana and going “regulus black” with full confidence despite having no qualifications.
