I loved this sign. It was always a significant symbol of returning home, especially after I graduated high school and left for college. On some late nights, my friends and I would pull off the road and take photos next to the sign, mainly as proof to show to new friends not familiar with our hometown that Paradise DOES exist! Located on the lower end of town on Skyway, this sign welcomed visitors who entered Paradise who drove up from Chico. It reads, “May you find Paradise to be all its name implies.” November 8th, 2018... While watching the news coverage and seeing the photos posted online from hometown friends who were evacuating during the initial hours of the Camp Fire, I felt like I was watching a horror movie. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I still can’t. Once I saw the image of the Paradise sign burning, I completely lost it... 😢 - - - - - 5x7 Ink on paper sketch of the Paradise town welcome sign.
