Alex and Charlie walked hand in hand on their way home from their spot on the beach, a cliff edge covered in sand and tall grass, overlooking the water. It’s where they’d spent quite a lot of their time together talking, kissing, and enjoying each other. It was several miles from town, which meant for a lengthy walk home but neither of them seemed to mind. The two were closer than they had ever been, again, being so many different firsts for each other. Their first time and first I love yous were just weeks ago, and it was hard for them to stay away from each other since.
As they decided to cut through the docks on their way to Charlie’s apartment, they stopped nearby for a moment, watching the lights of the carnival in the distance. “We could still go?”
The sound of her heart pounded in her ears as she sprinted down the street. She dodged others clumsily, her energy lower than ever before, only being propelled by adrenaline and anxiety. She’d used up so much of her energy helping others at the carnival, healing those that she knew how to and moving them away from the danger. She had seen the charred remains of a unicorn stuffed animal and felt her heart drop to her stomach.
When she reached Kennedy’s apartment, she pounded on the door. The burn on her arm throbbed and a jolt of pain went through her with every strike, but she didn’t stop. She had to make sure she was okay.
Ellora wasn’t a nurse or even a trained healer like her sister, but she knew white magic, she knew how to heal, and right now that was all that mattered. She darted through the fair grounds, ignoring her own cuts and bleeding from being near one of the fires that started--and its subsequent chaos, her heart pounding against her chest all the while. One of the food stalls had quickly caught fire and she had to help the worker get out from behind, managing to heal the burns on the worker’s leg before she backed up and accidentally bumped into someone. Immediately, Ellora looked them over. “A-Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
The attack had come suddenly. Rana, who’s whole life had been nothing but a game of survival against attacks, felt completely unprepared. The explosions, the fire, the chaos. It all rattled every single bone in the shifter’s body. She had been unprepared for the pain and chaos that was to come, and with her back against the wall, she felt truly like the trapped animal she was. Rana felt a jolt of pain following the waves of explosion. One moment she had been standing by the water and watched the fireworks from afar, away from the crowds that still made her so nervous and on edge. Her body had been thrown back, air-born as she was slammed into some rocks and her head hit one with a sickening thud. But it was the pain in her leg that truly made her yowl out like the animal she was. The lioness lifted her head, feeling the wet and sticky trail of blood down the back of her head. Lifting her head, she caught sight of the pole impaling her leg. Rocks, wood, concrete and other heavy materials from the docks surrounded her, debris of the explosion. But as she tried to move her leg to pull the pipe out, she realized to her horror that she couldn’t. Rana was stuck. The cry that was torn from her lips was the animalistic cry of overwhelming pain. For someone who knew only pain in the pits, she found herself overwhelmed and defeated by this sheer pain. She was stuck.
While the carnival was still all the town could talk about, Ignas had already been and was honestly kind of over it by now. He was happy to work and catch up with the residents that frequented On the Rocks.
Ignas was in the middle of wiping down the counter as he chatted away with Harley, a customer who came in earlier that night and they spent quite a bit of time talking while Ignas made drinks for other patrons. There was some form of normalcy falling back into Ignas’ life as he’d gotten past the anniversary of losing his brother and being excommunicated from his coven. However, he’d be lying if he said Harley mentions of his own brother didn’t bring about a tinge of sadness in him.
But as the night went on and everyone was chatting away, the usual fireworks from the carnival began to sound. “There go the fireworks.” Ignas had become used to by now “Guess we might be getting more people in.” He added, knowing that some of the residents stopped by after their nights at the carnival. But seconds later. he heard something... else? His brows furrowed as he looked around at the other patrons, and the looks of confusion on their faces showed Ignas he wasn’t the only one thinking it was strange. He then turned to Harley. “That-... that didn’t sound like fireworks.”
Luisa had felt pretty accomplished with the carnival as a whole. She loved having a hand in helping to create these big events for the island, she loved that it made her feel important to the grand scheme of the island. She remembered once a mention to her that one day she’d be in some sort of rulership position if she stayed by Octavian’s side, so she figured what better way to practice than this? She felt accomplished as well that she even managed to haul Octavian to one night of the carnival (albeit both of them in disguises).
They were a bit away from the carnival when, well, everything suddenly seemed to happen. The sound of explosions in the distance, fire, sirens...
EVENT 004 {JULY 9TH-14TH} THE SUMMER CARNIVAL-- ATTACK
For the last two weeks, every night the carnival came to an end, the night ended with fireworks. And just like those nights, Saturday night, the final night of the carnival, ended with explosions as well. Just not in the sky.
At the same time the fireworks began going off, there were three explosions simultaneously around the city: LIU LABORATORY, THE COUNCIL BUILDING, and THE BOAT DOCKS all being targeted.
Fires soon began around the carnival grounds as well. Warning sirens began blaring. Screams and chaos pierced the otherwise lively atmosphere.
Paradisus was under attack.
OOC INFO UNDER THE CUT:
dun dun dun here’s part two of our summer event!
For months now, people against the island (namely hunters) have been plotting this attack, wanting to bring an end of the supernatural creatures whom they believed would only bring tyranny to the world. They gathered information on not only the Council members, but used the generosity of Paradisus’ open boarders against it, essentially casing the island and plotting where to hit it the hardest.
The docks was an easy choice: no one in, no one out.
The labs is where human blood is not only harvested but stored, being distributed to the vampire population daily. It’s also where humans are turned into monsters.
The council building though was mainly sending a message: a group of supernatural beings would never equate to real world leaders.
The three targets had another reason as well: to try and cripple the island. The goal is to starve out the vampires and try to force them to show their true colors when if their hunger wins out and they start attacking. And with the docks damaged, minimal ships will be going in and out, affecting the island’s supply chain as a whole.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
From Saturday at 11am EST until Thursday the 14th, the dash is open for part two posts.
Please tag any open starters with paradisus.attack (again, the first three can be posted without replying to others first).
Along with the three main spots, fires will break out in the carnival area, causing further chaos.
Characters can get hurt (we encourage it!) but please run any severe injuries/ serious plot ideas by us first. As the bombs/fires happened at different points on the island, even if your character(s) weren’t at the carnival, they can still get hurt.
Any witches who know white/healing magic can plot to try and help out the injured. There will be a triage center in place near the carnival to try and not overwhelm the hospital.
No one in game will have known about the attack prior (not even The King fully knew).
Only NPC’s will be killed (unless someone wants to retire a muse and sacrifice them. Again just message us first).
