Jackson was surprised as soon as he was handed the stuffed bear. He had only played the game to prove a point that all carnival games were set up for failure. The fact that he had just won only proved in the end that he was wrong and he wasn’t sure what to do with that information. “ Uh- well this is awkward” Jackson replied before reaching out and holding it to the person next to him. “ Would you like this? I kind of didn’t expect so much honesty in game play around here. I hadn’t anticipated winning something and now I kind of look dumb with my speech about thing’s being rigged from before.. “
Charlie had always hated this time of year but now more than ever. Because now, it was everywhere she turned and was a glaring reminder of how alone she was. Not just romantically (and fuck that), but in general. She had no family, no real friends. It’s how she’d wanted it, it’s how it was safer. But....on times like this, where everywhere she looked people were paired up and happy and smiling, it was a stark reminder of how lonely she felt.
She couldn’t wait for it all to be over.
As it was though, with everyone out on dates or partying, and nothing on tv but sappy romance movies, there was nothing to do and she was bored. (And curious- not that she’d admit it out loud). So Charlie ended up down at the beach, sitting in sand and watching from the outskirts at people singing bad karaoke and throwing random things into an ever-growing bonfire, far enough away that no one should bother her. Taking a long drink from her beer, she sensed someone walking nearby but just barely glanced over her shoulder “The party’s that way.”
It’s been one whole year since the island of Paradisus opened its proverbial doors and supernatural creatures from all over the world have since flocked to the island, seeking its acceptance and its safety and it’s all in thanks to His Majesty, King Octavian Avery and his trusted Council. To celebrate this momentous occasion there will be festivities all over the island, most of which can already be seen with decor beginning to spring up all along the island.
Stores and buildings all over the island are being decorated in silvers and golds. Some stores will be having sales, food establishments will be having special celebratory menus and it’s all culminating into one thing:
The first annual Paradisus Day Ball!
The entire island is invited on FRIDAY, APRIL 22ND to The Palace for a night of dancing and elegance and celebration. Stylists and fashion designers from all over the world will be flown in to help design not only gowns and tuxes fit for a ball but masks as well. After all, on an island created on the basis of cooperation and peace, anonymity and trust should be no problem.

Since the beginning of the month, the island will have been starting to decorate for the anniversary of the island, and now everyone gets celebrate!
Friday night into Saturday morning, the entire kingdom island will be invited to a large, lavish ball being held at the palace-- the first time for many of the citizens to be allowed inside the palace walls in general-- and emphasis will be on lavish.
Everyone is expected to dress their absolute best as cameras will be around, photos and videos broadcasting all over the globe to prove to the rest of the world that the island is thriving.
Food and drinks will of course be catered, and any humans who would want to volunteer as fresh blood during the night will be paid 5000 dollars for their services.

Starting 3pm EST on Friday the 22nd we will ask for all regular dash interactions to be pause or to be tagged pre event. This will go until Tuesday the 26th (Wednesday the dash can return to not being tagged specifically but of course event threads can continue.)
New starters can be made until Monday (the first five can be done without having to reply to prior ones). ((and of course feel free to make new starters now leading up to it about the elaborate décor and stress/excitement to wear a some fancy clothes and masks!))

mini event 001 {feb. 4th - feb. 15th} LOVE IS IN THE AIR
To try and make amends for the winter debauchery, the Paradisus coven, led by Regent Nia Faulkner has been granted permission by His Majesty to host a slew of fun, island-wide events to celebrate not only Valentine’s Day, but the halfway point to the Spring Equinox as well.

Over the next two weeks, the island will be oh so filled with not only love love and fun games but wiccan facts and rituals as a way for the witches to not only atone for the blizzard but to share their practices with other species. A kumbaya, if you will.
Starting tomorrow, February 5th- participating locations around the island will have booths set up to sign up for events such as blind date auctions and speed-dating events to take place on Valentine's Day. A raffle will be done as well for one lucky couple to have an all-expenses paid romantic dinner at The Last Drop restaurant.
Tarot card readings regarding one’s love life will also be done in the park and around town at various locations as well as booths being set up to sell items like rose quartz, confidence charms, fertility draughts, make-your-own incense, self-love bath bombs. etc.
On February 11th- any players who wish to participate in the Blind Date Auctions will have their characters randomized and we’ll give your pairings so you guys can talk OOC and decide what your dates will be. There will also be a Singles Mingle at High Tide Lounge, and a Happy To Be Single event at the beach for people perfectly content to be unattached where they can enjoy an unromantic movie marathon, karaoke, and a bonfire to burn any photos or evidence of those less-than-stellar exes. And not to mention the bars in town will of course be home to those who just want to drink in peace and avoid all the mushiness in the air.

Starting Feb 5th until Tuesday Feb 15th, we ask that all regular dash interactions be tagged with pre event. (They can still continue though!)
For characters to be auctioned off for the blind dates, just send an ask to the main with which characters and their preferences of person (m/f/no pref) so we can randomize accordingly! You two can then plot OOC however the date will go.
All establishments on the island will be decorated for the next two weeks so feel free to assume there’s specialty food and drink menus, and red and pink and hearts decorations everywhere. Everywhere.
For any starters (especially next weekend) please label where it’s located so people can reply accordingly! We will be dropping our starter rule for the first five event starters. After that, please reply to some first before making your own.

The Royal Wedding - Event 001 {Nov. 19th - Nov. 22nd}
To all citizens of Paradisus, please join us for the wedding of His Royal Highness Prince David O’Connor and Her Royal Highness Princess Katherine Avery on Friday, the 19th of November, 2021. Reception to follow.

Hey guys, here’s our first event!
The wedding reception will be Friday evening in game (around 5pm/sunset time) and will go all through the night.
Additional Details:
In game, the official ceremony will be during the day and the ceremony is limited to VIP guests--it will be televised world-wide.
NPC’s from all over the world will be coming for the wedding.
The entire city has been decorated specifically for this event.
While not everyone will be invited to the official reception in the palace, every character in game is. For the other NPC civilians, there are public party areas available to the general public.
Feel free to use your imagination with any interactions or things your characters will get up to during the night. Drunken shenanigans? Slutty wedding hookups? Have at it!
Starting Friday at 3PM EST we ask that all current dash threads be paused so to focus on the wedding! (If you’re really mused up for your current threads though please tag them as #pre event).

Over the last week, residents of Paradisus will have noticed that decorations have gone up all over the island. Storefronts are decked out with garlands, twinkling lights all strung up, and in the center of town is a fifty foot Christmas tree, immaculately decorated. But it’s not truly Christmas without one important aspect: snow!
In coordination with the King and their Regent, the Paradisus coven of witches have all banded their magic together, casting a spell over Paradisus to drop the temperature on the island and let fresh snow fall daily, turning it into a true winter wonderland. And that’s not all! To truly make the first holiday season on the island special, there will be special events and activities all throughout the month for the residents to enjoy.

Here’s our next fun event! (and note that it says part 1)
From now until the end of the month, the witches have cast a spell to keep the temperature cold and snow lightly blanketing the island. Warm clothes will be provided to all residents for free, as well as of course being sold in the shops- all provided by the Avery’s. There will be spots on the island where snow falls more heavily, allowing for residents to have all sorts of snow-fun! From snowball fights to snow angels, it’s open for all.
Along with decorations all over, there will be multiple activities for everyone to enjoy all through the city. A two mile-long festival of lights every night for residents to walk through with stops along the way for games and food and drink stalls. Holiday movie nights being show in the park on the weekends (remember to bring your blankets!), an ice skating rink, and holiday pop-up shops for people to buy everything from Christmas trees to decorations.
Feel free to use your imagination with holiday events happening all over the island as well as enjoying (or not) the chilly weather! After all, it won’t stay peaceful for long.
EVENT 004 {JULY 9TH-14TH} THE SUMMER CARNIVAL-- ATTACK
For the last two weeks, every night the carnival came to an end, the night ended with fireworks. And just like those nights, Saturday night, the final night of the carnival, ended with explosions as well. Just not in the sky.
At the same time the fireworks began going off, there were three explosions simultaneously around the city: LIU LABORATORY, THE COUNCIL BUILDING, and THE BOAT DOCKS all being targeted.
Fires soon began around the carnival grounds as well. Warning sirens began blaring. Screams and chaos pierced the otherwise lively atmosphere.
Paradisus was under attack.

dun dun dun here’s part two of our summer event!
For months now, people against the island (namely hunters) have been plotting this attack, wanting to bring an end of the supernatural creatures whom they believed would only bring tyranny to the world. They gathered information on not only the Council members, but used the generosity of Paradisus’ open boarders against it, essentially casing the island and plotting where to hit it the hardest.
The docks was an easy choice: no one in, no one out.
The labs is where human blood is not only harvested but stored, being distributed to the vampire population daily. It’s also where humans are turned into monsters.
The council building though was mainly sending a message: a group of supernatural beings would never equate to real world leaders.
The three targets had another reason as well: to try and cripple the island. The goal is to starve out the vampires and try to force them to show their true colors when if their hunger wins out and they start attacking. And with the docks damaged, minimal ships will be going in and out, affecting the island’s supply chain as a whole.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
From Saturday at 11am EST until Thursday the 14th, the dash is open for part two posts.
Please tag any open starters with paradisus.attack (again, the first three can be posted without replying to others first).
Along with the three main spots, fires will break out in the carnival area, causing further chaos.
Characters can get hurt (we encourage it!) but please run any severe injuries/ serious plot ideas by us first. As the bombs/fires happened at different points on the island, even if your character(s) weren’t at the carnival, they can still get hurt.
Any witches who know white/healing magic can plot to try and help out the injured. There will be a triage center in place near the carnival to try and not overwhelm the hospital.
No one in game will have known about the attack prior (not even The King fully knew).
Only NPC’s will be killed (unless someone wants to retire a muse and sacrifice them. Again just message us first).
EVENT 004 {JUNE 24th - JULY 8th} THE SUMMER CARNIVAL
With the first full year of the island being open under their belts, The Council have decided to celebrate yet again and let everyone on the island have some fun.
Residents will have noticed a large clearing being set up for days now, and it’s all been in preparation for this: a summer carnival. For the entire last week of June and the first week of July, the space will be transformed and filled with fun for all ages! From food stalls and games to even rides, there will be something for everyone to enjoy, culminating each night with an impressive firework display off the docks that will be viewable throughout the entire island.
So everyone get ready to have some fun! After all, there’s nothing like summer in the city.
