In the parallels au, which twin is better at what? Like who is best in music, sports, math, etc? You said they were competitive and put against each other their entire lives, so I'm curious..

Sonic is better at sports, and social skills. Nicky is more academic. Sonic was always compared to Nicky in terms of school grades and Nicky was always compared to Sonic in terms of social life.

Nicky is in college, with a scholarship for his good grades in high school (i havent decided what hes studying shhhh). Sonic also got a scholarship, due to sports, but he ended up not going to college, he's working instead.

They're both good at music, but they're on different ends of the spectrum lol. Nicky plays the violin and focuses on classical music, plus he's part of an orchestra. Sonic on the other hand plays guitar and uploads covers on social media, mostly of rock music and similar genres. Music is one of those skills they usually fought over when growing up, Sonic claiming Nicky's was boring and Nicky saying Sonic doesn't actually know music because he doesn't actually know music theory, he just plays guitar.

But how does Shadow feel about all of this? Does anyone realize the twins' toxic behavior? If only one of the twins had fallen in love with Shadow, would those two have a healthy relationship?

Shadow's feelings areeeeee complicated, in short lmao I'm planning on elaborating in the future so I won't say more than that!!

Also, Shadow has started to realize they don't just have a love rivalry, but still doesn't realize how deep it goes (but he will<3)

Ok, I just want to know how both nicky and sonic develop the crush over shadow. Like, was it love at first sight?, did it progress over time?, same class? Or was it a one-time convention?

to be honest!!! they both were interested after their first conversation with shadow, nothing too crazy tho. what drove them to obsession was the knowledge that they were both interested in the same person tbh

Are Sonic and Nicky’s friends (outside of Shadow) aware of their immense hatred for eachother?

they're aware they don't vibe, but they think it's a lot less intense than what it actually is. they kinda just go "ahaha you guys be nice to each other!" without realizing just how deep it goes. and thats how they prefer it, they actively keep up this image of just two brothers who bicker sometimes

shadow was kind of into both, but at first it seemed to him like sonic was more interested, so he was willing to see where that went. eventually he does start to suspect what's going on and!!!!! he's conflicted wjauahdfscsf will elaborate more in the future, hopefully!!!

Why do nicky and sonic hate eachother 0m0? Love this au im gonna eat it

theyve kind of been put against each other their whole life. they were always compared to their brother and had this dynamic where they were constantly competing between the other. their rivalry had been growing ever since they were kids, reaching the next level of distaste for each other during their teenage years, in which they started to actively try to piss the other off, teasing and getting on their nerves.

they kind of stopped trying to be friendly with each other during this time, and it got to worse levels after Nicky confessed his feelings for this girl he liked in high school, but she said she liked Sonic instead, and Sonic, like the asshole he is, started dating this girl even though he wasn't all that interested in her.

in retaliation, Nicky began to be an active nuisance for Sonic. He would hide his shit, mess up his homework, purposefully throwing away his stuff and then going "oh, sorry, I thought it was just trash". That kinda stuff, and this is when their hatred truly bloomed.

and yknow, the clearly untreated and undiagnosed mental issues they both have lmao

ANOTHER PARALLELS AU RANT!!!! I KNOW NO ONE CARES ABOUT THIS AU EXCEPT FOR ME BUT IT HAS INFECTED MY BRAIN AT THIS TIME SO YOU ALL HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!

SOOO Sonic's friendgroup obviously consists of Tails, Knuckles and Amy. He has other friends, but these three are the ones he's always hanging out with.

Amy is kind of friends with Nicky but they don't really talk unless Sonic's there. Tails and Knuckles are okay with Nicky, but he usually avoids Sonic's friends so they don't really talk.

Nicky's friend group is made up by Silver and Blaze. Both are also friends with Sonic, but they're closer to Nicky. He gets soooo mad when he sees Sonic talking to them tho.

Rouge is a friend of Sonic's. They don't hang out as much, but they're defenitely friends, while she only knows of Nicky. Still, what matters is: Rouge moves into a new apartment, and with a new roommate, so she throws a house warming party. She calls Sonic to invite him, and during the conversation she also tells him to invite his brother as well. Which Sonic does not want to do bc, yknow, they dont like each other.

"Uhm, are you sure? He's too closed off, y'know. He might ruin the vibes..."

"Oh, that sounds like he'd get along with my roommate. Invite him! It won't hurt."

"He doesn't do well with strangers."

"He can invite his friends! Come on, Blue, I wanna meet your twin! Why are you keeping him from me?"

And Sonic sees no other way out. He ends up telling Nicky, and after telling his friends about it, he gets encouraged to go.

So they go to the party, and there, they meet Rouge's new roommate, Shadow. He and Rouge met at their job, they're coworkers, and it so happened that they were both looking for a new roommate, so it worked out for them both.

Sonic and Nicky are interested the moment they first interact with Shadow. He's got this quiet but sharp energy that draws them both in, and it has an immediate effect. Sonic talks to Shadow first, introduces himself, cracks a couple of jokes at which Shadow scoffs and rolls his eyes teasingly and that works like a charm for Sonic. Nicky then encounters Shadow in a corner and they strike up a conversation, they seem to have a few things in common, which pulls Nicky in.

Before they leave the party, Sonic asks for Shadow's number, and after a bit of teasing from Rouge, he accepts. Nicky sees this, and he hates it. Why does Sonic always have to take everything away from him? He had a nice conversation with Shadow, he was interested in seeing him again, and Sonic just had to step in between.

Sonic picks up on this, on how much Nicky seems to hate seeing him talk to Shadow, and he just knows what this is about. And he loves making Nicky this mad.

So their love rivalry starts!
