Dahlia: Dahlia brushed her newly dyed blonde hair out of her face and felt her face soften as she watched Ghost run in and out of the surf as she sat on the beach. Since dying her hair, or maybe a little bit before that, she'd started feeling like more like herself. She still felt number more often than not, and she still had trouble expressing her feelings but she was slowly beginning to feel and show things more. She didn't even feel like her brother and friends were overbearing like she'd felt before. She hummed the song Violet had sang to her in the hospital as she ran her fingers through the sand. It was slightly overcast today but she'd always liked days like this. "Not to far, Ghost!" She called to the dog. Her eyes widened when he suddenly stopped to look at her and then charged towards her, she hadn't heard someone approach her and was confused when Ghost ran past her barking happily.
Mason: Mason hadn’t known why coming here seemed to be what had planned for the day, but for some reason something about the beach was calling him down there, ever since he had been wondering what would happen to he and Lia he had been finding more reasons to go places he hadn’t before. It hadn’t been long since he had been down to the beach, but in his head it felt like forever, maybe he just needed to go there and be by himself, maybe he was expecting someone to be there. He frowned when he saw Ghost playing in the sea, he was even more confused when the platinum blonde woman had Dahlia’s voice. He made his way closer, a soft sigh coming from him. “Hey boy.” He said as he got closer and greeted him with a treat that he always carried no matter where he went. “Lia..” He began as he got closer. “You dyed your hair.. I like it.” He said sheepishly, walking a little further over. “Suits you.”
Dahlia: Dahlia was startled to see Mason and ducked her head a bit as he made his way closer to her. She hadn't been very nice to him the last couple of times they'd spoken and she hadn't seen him often as a result of that. At least thought it was a result of her meanness. She dragged her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around then rest her chin on her knees facing him. "I thought...I could use a change." She murmured lightly, flushing faintly at his words. "Thanks." She said softly. She was vaguely pleased to note her voice sounded a little warmer than it had been lately and hoped he notied. She also hoped he noticed she was finally wearing the bracelet he got her for valentine's day, though she felt like she was going to have a heart attack every time she put it on because it was so expensive. "What brings you out here? One of the others find you and ask you to babysit me?" There was no bitterness or exasperation in her voice, even if she didn't like her friends and brother's overprotective ways she didn't bother arguing against them.
Mason: Mason could feel a smile growing just a little bit wider, he knew the last few times they spoke were a little bit hairy, but the least he could do now was try to make sure that they were on somewhat good terms. He moved to sit beside her, situating himself on the beach and looking out to the ocean, he felt like his home was far away. He was struck with another thought, that his home was right here, here beside Lia felt more like his home than his home ever did. “It really does look good.” He confirmed, looking over and smiling when he caught the glint of the bracelet that adorned her wrist. A strong desire to reach out and run a finger over it caught him and he pushed the thought out of his head. “No I.. I can’t figure out why but I just… It’s like the beach was calling me down here.. Or maybe my heart just knows when yours is hurting and it told me that you needed me to come down here… Just to sit here and talk… Or something.” He shrugged lightly, usually he would have been a lot more poetic with that but something in him just couldn’t bring out that poetic side that was usually so close to him.
Dahlia: She flushed again and ducked her head at his compliment. She peeked at him through her curtain of hair, grunting when Ghost collided with her. "Brat." She said affectionately to the dog, wrapping her arms around him. She fell silent as Mason spoke, her heart thumping in her chest, her neck and face felt warm. She glanced up at him and blinked slowly a soft sigh slipping out of her. "I meant what I said before you know. I feel a little bit but for the most part I don't feel much of anything anymore." She dragged her fingers through Ghost’s thick fur, before pulling a bone out of her bag for him to chew on. "It's there just....muted and I don't quite feel it like I should." She tugged the bone away from Ghost and threw it for him to chase. She glanced at Mason and was surprised at the sudden urge she had to reach out and touch him. It seemed like he was one of the few who could bring her emotions back out.
Mason: He ducked his head in a nod, almost repeating the same action she had made. He smiled lightly when Ghost came running, as much as he wanted to reach out and give him an affectionate scratch behind the ear he knew better than to reach out without knowing whether or not he was really on duty. He quirked up one side of his mouth, nodding, he understood kind of how she felt. "It's okay, I know, I know it might take awhile for it to come, but I promise I'm still not going anywhere until you scream at me to go." He reached out, tucking her hair behind her ear. "Not as demanding as your emotions usually are?" He guessed, smiling over at her, shifting a little closer, he didn't know if he wanted to reach out and hug her or stay back, he settled on a compromise and with his hands on his knees he extended two fingers so they were resting on her knees. Little by little he'd help her all he could.
Dahlia: Dahlia kept her hair between them as a shield and watched him through it as he ducked his own head. She noticed his smile when Ghost appeared and bit her lip to fight back a responding smile. She gave a small gesture and Ghost barked happily before moving towards Mason to lick at the man's face, she bit her lip to stop her giggles. She stayed quiet as he spoke, one thin eyebrow raising, and she quickly glanced out at the water as he brushed her hair behind her ear. "No they're not." She replied, before glancing at him, keeping her face as stoic as possible before she spoke again. "You know nothing, Mason Polizzi." It took everything in her to keep her voice monotone before she looked out at the water. "You know nothing of how I feel." She said softly, then decided she was being too much of an ass and glanced at him. The look on her face was so soft and tender it almost hurt to bare but she tried to show him all her emotions clearly. "You know nothing, because I've told you nothing." She murmured, before slowly reaching out to gently brush her fingertips across his cheek. "I love you, Mason Polizzi." Her heart thundered in her chest, nowadays she only said the words to her brother and implied them to Violet and Sean. "Whatever that entails, whatever that means, despite all the pain love can cause and how absolutely fuckin' terrified I am right now saying it .... I love you." She could feel tears pricking her eyes and her breath hitched. "And if you feel the same way still. I'd really, really like to here you say it and I'd like it even more if you'd .... if you'd please, pretty please kiss me." She choked out in a whisper, trying to force a smile on her face as she tried to blink back her tears.
Mason: Mason wore a smile that grew with each moment she was here, even for the few moments between looking at her and noticing the gesture she gave to Ghost that told him to come and see Mason. Even in those few moments he was sure his face may crack apart with the grin that he wore. When Ghost came over to him he reached his hands out, welcoming him with a scratch behind his ears a scratch beneath his chin. "Hey boy," his voice though soft held an almost ache, like he'd been tired for a while before he made his way out here. Mason let his head dip in a slightly more understanding nod, not wanting to seem like he was trying to be overly analytical, after all it was all what she was doing with her life. Despite feeling the sting of pain and wanting to be there as much as possible, he loved her and he was willing to take those few steps back and let her figure it out, find out what she wanted, it was the least he could do really. His gaze fell as he turned to look back out to sea, not wanting to show exactly how much those words stung because it was how she felt after all. Despite his wanting to tell her that it was okay, that he'd still keep waiting, when her fingertips brushed his cheek all the words in him were stolen away and he found himself turning back towards her, a small smile on his face again. A flood of emotions broke open inside of him when she said that she loved him, he didn't know which one was more important, which one was yelling the loudest, because they were all yelling at the same time. His hand tenderly cupped her cheek and his finger stroked across her cheekbone. "Whatever it takes, whatever happens in this life, Dahlia Brennon, I love you, I love you and if that's the only thing I find myself with at the end of this life then I will have found my end happily." His lips pressed in against hers, a smile finding its way to his lips. He pulled back and kissed her forehead. "I love you, Dahlia Brennon. I love you so much."
