Nothing about prehospital care makes the awful task of delivering bad news to bereaved families easier for them, or us. ⛔️ Minimal training in this area, with no opportunity to step away and prepare our words with quiet thought. ⛔️ No dedicated “relatives room” for neutrality, so we know that our delivery will stay with them in their home forever. ⛔️ The person demanding their dog be locked away, may be the same bearer of the worst news they’ll ever hear. It will never be satisfying, no amount of preparation can lead to great results, and there is no gold standard to aim for, but if we have ever walked away feeling ashamed, we can always try to improve. Investing some CPD hours into watching, reading, listening and studying in this delicate area may mean the difference between “clumsy” and “considered” next time we’re in this unenviable position. #paramedic #paramedicschool #ambulance #ems #paramedicsofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/B_1rb72BcH8/?igshid=1xrosnam2dndb
