Devi in Hinduism

Devi is the Hindu mother goddess who manifests herself as all other goddesses.

Along with Lakshmi (goddess of wealth and prosperity) and Saraswati (goddess of knowledge and learning), Devi forms the trinity of Hindu goddesses.

Parvati is the wife of Shiva- the destroyer, recycler and regenerator of universe and all life. He is symbolic of supreme consciousness whereas Devi stands as universal energy.

She is the mother of Hindu gods Ganesha and Karttikeya.

Devi is derived from Sanskrit- देवी (devi) meaning "goddess". Durga, meaning "the inaccessible" or "the invincible", is the most popular incarnation of Devi and one of the main forms of the Goddess Shakti in the Hindu pantheon.

Durga is the original manifested form of Mother Parvati or Adi-Parashakti.
