Every time you split something into categories, you leave room for gray areas to develop in-between those categories. No definition is broad enough to account for every single vaguely similar phenomenon. And every time you define one of those gray areas, you allow for more gray areas to develop. It's like cutting a corner off a piece of paper - you just end up with two new corners.
I'm not saying this is a bad thing, necessarily. It's just something you need to be aware of and accept when you create new terminology to try and define your experiences.
