Discipline wasn’t abuse. It was how we learned right from wrong, how we built respect, and how we understood that actions have consequences. While I was never hung on the wall like Eddie the Otter, fair and effective discipline was applied as needed.   PS- no childhood traumas to blame for my current emotional state. 😉

When a parent uses their young child to commit crimes, what do they get charged with? Sometimes the child is unaware and used as a distraction or to simply show a mark to give credit to mommy's ruse with simple instructions like cry or look asleep. But other times the child is active like mommy says sneak under the tiny gap in the fence and bring back this or clean this and toss it out of the car, or even make friends with this other kid and ask about her parents and house.

In the US, there are Parental Accountability or Parental Responsibility Laws which hold parents responsible for any crimes committed by their child. But there are statutes that specify specific ages or age ranges which are applicable to the statute.

And most states can hold parents liable for any criminal actions their kids make in civil court. Parents can be charged with “contributing to the delinquency of a minor,” But criminal charges for bad parenting are less common.
