Course 1 ❄ Parfait Panic <Open>
For a second, it feels a bit like a blast from the past. His eyelids feel heavy, like a rusted door jammed in place. Waking up with a vague smattering of misty memories brought back those less fortunate days, ones where he’d just drop out like a light in the middle of class and stuff. Not enough energy, the nurse would say. Looking down at his skinny arms, he’d honestly reply ‘no shit’.
He shakes his head in the hopes of tearing apart those mental cobwebs before searching his jacket pockets. He’d actually been after a snack but when his phone clattered to the floor he had the good luck to see something quite fortunate indeed. That message seemed to at least point him somewhere which alleviated some of the growing annoyance and confusion. He took issue with the words ‘his room’ though. Glancing around with a suspicious look, he make a gentle dissatisfied noise before sticking a snack in his mouth. That’s better. With food in his mouth, he already feels a bit calmer. Alright. No problem. Go downstairs, figure out what the hell’s going on, and get ready to possibly kick someone’s ass for the trouble.
Easy as cake.
Kaneto finds the steps and practically falls down them, jumping over three steps to cut down on the time. It’s not like he’s in a rush, he actually seems calmer than perhaps he should be. But there’s something bothersome in general about wasting time, even if that time’s only spent on a step of a staircase.
Actually he was so focused on getting to places that the appearance of the rabbit doesn’t dawn on him until later.
”Christ--”
He bites down a bit too hard on his pocky stick. Gently recuperating from the surprise appearance, he takes a few deep breaths. Unfortunately in that time, the rabbit, Monaca or something, has already instructed them to make friends and walked off to the desk.
”Oi, oi, rabbit, not sure I’m done here... tch. Guessin’ you ain’t even listening... whatever, I’m bouncin’.”
He rubs the back of his neck, sighing, before turning his attention to the door. It’s not like he’s anti-social, not really, but this whole freaky rabbit hotel stuff is too weird to consider. Besides, he could use the fresh air. The streets have a nice aesthetic about them. Something about the city not having the usual bustle is pleasant. But... it dawns on him a bit later that perhaps, mixed in with the pleasantness... something foreboding. Man, that sounds like something out of a story or something. But it’s creepy, the lack of life here. His eyes follow the street lamps, trace the lines of the buildings... everything seems fine... and yet. There’s really something off about all this.
Then, there’s a feeling. That perhaps he’s not alone. From... behind him? He turns on heel to glance behind and sees that, indeed, someone has appeared.. But disappointment soon appears on his face as he realizes it’s a familiar face. Well, not really familiar, but it was someone he’d vaguely seen from the hotel area from before. So no one new.
“Uhh, you’re... you were one of those kids in the hotel, right?”
