❝ People change, but they don’t change. ❞
Roman’s eyebrows raised slightly, a little surprised to hear the cautionary words laced with knowledge that were given seemingly randomly. The deep sentiment, that he completely agreed with, was met with a nod after he let the words simmer for a moment and his features fell back into an emotionless expression. “Is there a particular reason you decided I needed to hear such a revelation?”
The core of someone; who they are buried beneath the layers of walls built around themselves– that never alters. People try to change themselves all the time, lying to themselves that they can be better… but Roman knew better than to try to convince himself of a facade. Growing up in the Valiente-Gardner’s homestead seemed to have changed him; warped him into someone twisted and dark. But that was always a part of him, and always would be.
“People simply hide their intentions– bury their true desires deep within and pretend they don’t have them anymore.” The warlock finally clarified his agreement. “Question, though… is it me you believe to not have changed? Because I can easily confirm that suspicion without the use of cryptic words of wisdom.”
