I was watching the first ep of Paris Has Fallen, Ritu’s latest thing (very good so far!), and although she’s clearly not playing Lila, her character’s vibe felt so much more like her than anything in s4. I was trying to figure out why, and it struck me: it’s because she’s so active - she runs, she fights, she’s bloody and covered in soot for half of it - and when she fights, she’s absolutely brutal with it. She gets down and dirty, she struggles, and no move is off-limits. She fucking kills a mime with a stiletto heel.

Does Lila in s4 do any of that? She’s so static! She sits in the truck, she sits on subway trains…she stands and talks, or watches other people talking…she goes to meetings…in the fight with Ben, she’s mostly helping Allison... Even when she does fight, they’ve lumbered her with a shiny new power that means all she does is stand in a corner and look. What a fucking waste!

I mean, there weren’t many decent fight scenes anyhow - certainly not enough to go round - but of the few there are, Lila is always at the edges, never involved, and like…no. Not my Lila.

-It's the 30th anniversary of Neil Jordan's INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE. It had been an eternity since I have seen it, but Jordan (by way of an oral history interview with Variety) speaks on the homoeroticism of the film and wanting to honour Anne Rice's writing. The only homoeroticism I saw was briefly with Brad Pitt's Louis and Antonio Banderas' Armand.
