One of the hidden gems of Paris is its Crypte Archéologique on the Île de la Cité (you can just see the entrance to the left of Notre Dame in the first picture). 

The museum’s collection of ancient and medieval remains includes such interesting features as this Gallo-Roman stone from the early French city of Lutetia and the souvenir photo machine that will forever haunt in my subconscious, because it did not print, nor will I likely ever own, actual coinage with my face on it.
