❤️ Happy International Women's Day! As the day is winding down, I reflect on today, this year up til now and my lifetime as a woman. Today I had the honor of Being A Guest Speaker On "Finding Your Voice" For International Women's Day Event At Golden West College. I was truly honored to have been invited to such an incredibly inspirational and moving event. I was amongst powerful women and I felt moved by every speech. Today was also an incredible day for me as I was featured in @livetinted latest newsletter and on the #livetinted website. I was given the opportunity to speak on my experiences being a trans brown woman in America. The fact that it released on International Women's Day is epic for me. I recall days that I was the outside looking in and I really felt the inclusivity today. I inherently felt the love and support as an individual who is often seen as an anomaly but was allowed into the circle. As for this year, it's been a Rollercoaster ride but I wouldn't have it any other way. I feel more empowered now then ever to make an impact in this life and I know this is my year to do it. As far as my lifetime, I've been through some intense hurdles from birth. Being initially rejected from my birth mother, being raised by my grandparents. My grandmother stepping in as my mother and still does. My current estranged relationship with my mother. My strained relationships with my sisters, one I haven't seen since I was seven. The betrayal I've receievd from female relatives during my upbringing and transition. I've harbored so much animosity and internalized pain. Forgiveness is something that I pray for, strive for and hope to master in this lifetime. Everyday I work on myself so that I can be a better daughter, granddaughter, sister, cousin, niece and Friend. In the interim, I've made incredible relationships with women who treat me like their own.
