Traffic Alert: Pat’s Run Road Closures

Pat’s Run will be held April 22 in downtown Tempe. The best way to get to the event is by Light Rail Transit. If driving to the event: expect delays, arrive early and park downtown. If driving on SR202 or southbound from Scottsdale, avoid using Rural/Scottsdale Road as it will be closed southbound between Gilbert Drive and 6th Street. Use Priest Drive, Mill Avenue, or McClintock Drive as alternates. To get around the event, use University Drive, McDowell Road, Priest Drive and/or McClintock Drive.
The following street restrictions and closures have been identified. However, others could be put in place to address public safety concerns that arise during the event. The information provided by the City of Tempe is for public information purposes only. All restrictions/closures are based on preliminary assessments and can be increased or decreased in scope without notice.
The following closure will occur from 4 p.m. April 21 to 12 p.m. April 22:
Packard Drive closed in both directions between 6th Street and Rio Salado Parkway
Street restrictions and closures from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. April 22 include:
Packard Drive closed in both directions between 6th Street and Rio Salado Parkway
6th Street closed in both directions between Rural Road and Veterans Way
Alpha Dr closed in both directions between University Dr and 6th St.
Rio Salado Parkway closed in both directions between Rural Road and Ash Avenue
Mill Avenue closed northbound between 3rd Street and Washington Street/Curry Road
Curry Road closed eastbound and westbound between Mill and College avenues
Lakeview Drive closed in both directions at Curry Road
College Avenue closed southbound between Curry Road and Gilbert Drive
Gilbert Drive closed eastbound between College Avenue and Scottsdale Road
Scottsdale/Rural Road closed southbound between Gilbert Drive and University
Scottsdale/Rural Road closed northbound between Rio Salado Parkway and the SR202
Rio Salado Parkway closed westbound at McClintock
SR202 eastbound off-ramp at Scottsdale Road closed
SR202 westbound on-ramp at Scottsdale Road closed
SR202 westbound off-ramp at Scottsdale Road restricted to northbound traffic only on Scottsdale Road
The following transit detours will be in effect on April 21 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:30 a.m. on April 22:
FLASH Forward and Back: Regular Route to 6th St/Veterans Way, Northeast on 6th Street, “Drop Off” location is EB 6th St near side of Alpha Dr, Southeast on Alpha Dr (staging area), North on driveway through Lot 57, West on 6th St, “Pick Up” location is WB 6th street near side of Packard Dr, continue West on 6th St – Resume Regular Route.
Route 48 Northbound: Regular route to Tempe Transportation Center; east on 5th Street/Veterans Way to University Drive; east on University to McClintock Drive; north on McClintock to Rio Salado Parkway; east on Rio Salado to resume regular route.
Route 48 Southbound: Regular route south on McClintock Drive to Rio Salado Parkway; continue south on McClintock to University Drive; west on University to Veterans Way; northwest on Veterans Way to resume regular route at Tempe Transportation Center.
The following transit detours will be in effect on April 22 from start of service until 10:30 a.m.:
Route 72 Northbound: Regular route to University Drive/Rural Road, East on University Drive, North on McClintock Drive, West on Curry Road, North on Rural Road, Resume Regular Route.
Route 72 Southbound: Regular route to Scottsdale & Curry roads; east on Curry to McClintock Drive; south on McClintock to University Drive; west on University to resume regular route at Rural Road.
Earth East: Route begins at Weber Drive & Scottsdale Road.
Earth West: Regular route south on Scottsdale Road to Weber Drive; continue south on Scottsdale to Curry Road; west on Curry to College Avenue; north on College to Weber Drive; east on Weber to layover at Weber & Scottsdale Road. There will be no service to downtown Tempe during the event; passengers will need to transfer to Route 72 at Scottsdale & Curry roads to get downtown.
