oh no. 5??? ok i’m just gonna go through my blog and pick a few plus some from memory
1. “I myself am war” — Georges Bataille. Short and sweet. I do not know the context of this particular quote but I loved it for the visceral image it puts in your head and I kept this as my blog title for a while.
2. “You are the universe, expressing itself as human for a little while.” — Eckhart Tolle I read this and wondered how this guy read my mind. This is exactly how I think about reality and our place in it. We are the universe, we are made up of the exact same stuff and it’s just been put together in this particular configuration for a small amount of time then when we die, it’ll break up and move on somewhere else. The universe is living and breathing and we’re another organ.
3. “God is a circle whose centre is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere” Nicholas of Cusa (I had to google that and I’m pretty sure he said it, the quote I have is slightly changed by someone else)Combining my love of math with religion I had to stick this one in because it gives me a good metaphor and also hurts my brain a little because this is physically impossible to comprehend and is good for me to go back to when I think about God. I find it easy for the brain to come up with metaphors like a shining light in the sky when that’s not what He is.
4. “My flesh is afraid but I am not” — Chelsea Wolfe
I believe it’s by her originally? Had to google because this was another one stuck in my head. I need to think about it more. I get like this a lot, where your body is anxious yet you aren’t actually that afraid deep down. It’s just hard for me to push it all away and keep going.
5. A bible verse, one of the first bible verses I really looked at before starting this blog thanks to the movie Fury. Isaish 6:8 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I; send me!”
For me this sort of blends in with number 4. Pretty sure this is the only verse I could flip through the bible and find.
