Process Journal #2: Analysis
We first started with the morphological approach per the assignment. It got our minds thinking about new and simpler ways of looking at the problem using a visual chart system.
From there I started the “Look it Up” technique. Which led me to this website that summarized much of the issues our team had come up with. https://pipta.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Parking-Problems-and-Creative-Solutions.pdf This analysis led me to another website which had 4 great up-and-coming apps that solved a few of our concerns already https://www.inc.com/chelsea-collier/how-to-turn-parking-problems-into-booming-businesses.html
I then attempted to “force-fit” by riding my first electric scooter. I tried both Bird and Limes this past week and experienced an alternative to finding convenient parking. Instead of searching, park far away and scooter to where you need to go. “Last mile solutions” it is being called.
I then began using the “common sense” method by analyzing my own parking strategies. I always like to back in at work because it’s easier to maneuver and by parking on the side it allows me to open my door as wide as I want without the fear of hitting another car. I also avoid small parking lots by street parking, which is a little bit of a farther walk.
By watching this video from Elon Musk https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=69&v=u5V_VzRrSBI it opened my mind to a macro view of the parking struggles by thinking about the future and utilizing tunnels to transport vehicles.
