This parlor miniature room is based on a real house that was built in 1818 in Haverhill, Massachusetts by a wealthy shipping merchant. His house shows off the fine imported furnishings he acquired while sailing into ports around the world. Eugene Kupjack created this room and he was one of the best-known miniaturists. His attention to scale and realism were developed during the time he spent working with Mrs. James Ward Thorne on the famous American rooms. Visitors may explore this room in more detail in our Mini Masterpieces exhibit.
