Naruto on a mission to save his village tasked with making a sacrifice to the god of shinobi in return for his villages safety.
As he goes he encounters enemy after enemy until he’s worn thin around the edges and barely capable of picking up a kunai.
that’s exactly when he’s attacked
Only…he doesn’t die? Someone darts in front of him and kills his enemies for him.
When he asks his savior who he is, he says his name is kakashi.
Next thing he knows naruto has himself a travel partner accompanying him to the gods shrine.
they fall for each other along the way, buts it’s only when they’re in a small inn near the shrine that he tells a sleeping kakashi that he loves him.
He would regret it if he didn’t, even if it wouldn’t be for long.
Naruto is the sacrifice after all.
But despite accepting his life as an acceptable exchange for his village’s safety, he doesn’t want to cause kakashi any unnecessary pain by telling him right before he loses him.
So instead, he presses a kiss to Kakashi’s hair, grabs his bag, and leaves for the shrine alone.
When Naruto derobes himself at the foot of the shrine and sends a prayer offering himself for his village, Kakashi’s eyes snap open.
