So, I started to write a fanfic that's Murphy X OC. What if one of the Grounder's watching the SkaiKru camp intervened in Murphy's hanging? Warning: Attempted Murder by hanging I read through this twice, so sorry if it has problems or sucks. I don't know what compelled me to do it. Honestly, I don't. I wasn't even a Gona, not yet anyway, so why Onya thought it a good choice to send me to watch over these sky people and judge them, I am not sure. Not that it was my place to question her. As of now, I do not hold a high opinion of the SkaiKru. They were reckless, and dangerously so. Already they were acting against each other, threatening each other and fighting over shiny, metal bracelets that they would pry off for food. I had not been there long, only being stationed in the trees above their camp the night before when it happened. The blonde drew my attention first, storming out of a tent, waving a knife about. Others were following her, but I didn't pay them much mind, letting the bright hair of the one they called Klark hold my attention. She approached a man, screaming at him in Gonasleng. I didn't have a complete grasp of the warrior language, but even I understood that she was saying he murdered someone she called 'Wells'. My hand instinctively went to my sword handle, though I knew I shouldn't intervene. Onya would have my head, perhaps literally, but I had seen the man the night before. He had harassed other SkaiKru before going into the large, hollow piece of metal the SkaiKru seemed to mainly reside in. Presumably, he had gone in there to sleep. However, I had seen a young child attack another with a knife, just outside the walls of their camp. Suddenly, a girl with dark hair and blue eyes -Okteivia, I believe- began to yell, "Float him, float him, float him!" Confused, I tilted my head, not understanding their Gonasleng. Perhaps I needed more instruction then I had realized. I watched silently as the sky people began to form a mob, shoving the supposed murderer towards a tall tree near the edge of the clearing above which I crouched. They continued their strange chant as they threw a length of rope over a branch, securing one end to the base of the tree and creating a loop with the other. They hoisted the man- who now appeared scared- onto a crate, just in front of the loop, before shoving his head through. It was then I realized, and acted, though I wasn't quite fast enough. 'Bellomi' spoke to Klark, saying, "This is on you, Princess," before he kicked the crate out from under the man. He dropped, letting out a pained, choked breath as the rope stretched taut, suspending him a little above the ground. He twitched, his body swaying back and forth, as I steadied my arms. I let my arrow fly, watching as it hit true, cutting through the rope with ease and collapsing the man upon the ground. The sky people began too look around, some letting out gasps or screams. I ignored them, as they had ignored the man's, when he had screamed of his innocence, as I moved swiftly from branch to branch, positioning myself in such a way that I could drop next to the gasping man. Launching myself from my perch, I dropped solidly to the ground, landing in a crouch behind him. More gasps erupted from the crowd at my arrival, no doubt due to my appearance. I was small, only standing up to a horse's back, but I was strong, and agile, muscles lean from years of training. I was Heda's second, a position revered among my people, on loan to Onya, so I could further my training as a Gona. My brown hair was kept from my face with various braids, and my eyes- dark purple, a strange color, for any of the clans- stood out sharply against the deep black of my war paint. I kept my sword and dagger drawn, ready to attack if any threaten the man who lay gasping in front of me. Bellomi began to yell, fumbling for his handgun, as all around us the SkaiKru began to panic. A chorus of, "GROUNDER!" spread through the camp, rousing the man from his stupor. He scrambled back, only to run into my feet. I reached for him with the hand holding the dagger, causing him to flinch away. I paused before reaching towards his neck. "Safe." I spoke lowly, so only he would here my use of Gonasleng, knowing that the sky people should not be aware of our understanding of the language. His eyes widened comically, staring at me in shock, but allowing me to reach for his neck regardless. I slipped my dagger between the rope and his neck carefully, making sure not to cut him even as he flinched in spite of his best efforts. I pull the rope off of his neck, keeping the rope securely in my hand as I stand, my eyes narrowing as I finally notice that Bellomi has his 'pistol' aimed at me, noting his finger is not on the trigger. I lash out with the rope, swinging so it wraps around the hand holding the gun, before giving a harsh tug which sends the wretched thing down to the ground, safely out of his hands. He seemed surprised, as if he hadn't expected me to fight back, even though my plethora of weapons was clearly visible. I addressed the entire clearing in Trigedasleng, knowing they wouldn't understand, but expecting them to get the message, "Jomp em op," I spoke clearly, gesturing to the man at my feet as I moved in front of him, taking a defensive stance, drawing my sword and dagger in front myself, prepared to fight for the man's safety, "En yu jomp ai op!" I used my knife hand to thump my chest, noticing the way their eyes widened, much like the man's had. Glancing back at the man, I handed him my knife, nodding at him when he hesitated, as if it were some kind of trap. I then nodded toward the open area where the wall had yet to be filled in, grabbing my bow from its place over my shoulder as I waited from him to move. I kept my eyes on the sky people as I slotted an arrow, aiming at them to cover our escape. They all seemed appropriately frightened, except for Okteivia. Her eyes were bright, excited even. I filed that away for later, sure of its importance. Her eyes were still shining when I rounded the corner of the wall, and she disappeared from sight.
