This song was written in March 1944 by partisan Emilio Casalini, known as Cini. One month later, he was dead, shot after capture in Voltaggio, provinica di Alessandria. Non dimentichiamo mai. Buona Festa della Liberazione!
on a partisan song kick - anyone have particular favourites?
I think it’s very important for national stability for people to have a song they sing together when protesting the government. In Slovenia we sing Internacionala (L'Internationale), Puntarska (which is a song from the peasant rebellions) and any number of partisan songs. What is your national protest song?

That’s true. What about L'Internationale ? That one is used a lot at protests in Slovenia (the Slovene version obviously).

Really? I find that so odd. You must have some revolutionary songs surely? From the peasant revolts or something? Partisan songs from WWII?
I saw a Bernie Sanders ‘Do you hear the people sing?’ video on youtube, so I decided to listen to the original song from Les Mis. I haven’t actually watched the musical and from the synopsis on wiki I wouldn’t really like it that much. But I do like that song, mostly because I really like partisan songs. I also saw that this song is used in a lot of ‘protest’ videos on yt. The only thing I was wondering was do American and British people not get taught any actual revolutionary songs in school? I don’t mean that mockingly or anything. I’m genuinely curious. Cause in Slovenia we learn at least a few partisan songs in music class. Do you get anything like that?
