I was at a social today and a girl started talking to me, complimenting my dancing in both roles. Asks about competitions, is astonished that I am not ranked high, and compares me with a Champion level dancer we have visiting this weekend for a workshop, saying I'm doing the same little things as she is. There is a WORLD of difference between me and this person of course, but she doesn't see it.
And then she asks me which followers here I find good. I'm a bit shocked at the question, I'm a teacher here, I can dissect everyone's dancing in the room, but what's the point of that ? We're here to have fun ! So I tell her they're all good dancers, on different aspects. That they all have strengths and weaknesses, and that ultimately we're here to have fun. Then she asks me about the leaders, and I'm Almost tempted to answer. I'm very critical of leaders, as I am of my own dancing, leading being my main role. But that wouldn't be fair, so I elude again, we're not here to judge, we're here to have fun !
She tells me she wants to know who to watch. Well watch them all ! Watch the ones you like seeing dancing. Be inspired ! We're here to have fun.
