For anyone who has checked on me, sent me private messages, etc.
Some good news today. The Atlas Peak fire (Napa and Solano Counties) now has 1900 personnel working it and is 27% contained. Some of the fires in Sonoma County have merged into one, but that is positive in a way because it means they have less perimeter to control. The fire in Mendocino is still going strong.
Weather conditions are very good today for fighting, but will go back to higher winds and low humidity tonight and into tomorrow; however, it won't be anything like Sunday night when all this started because of the quantity of First Responders out there and ready. There are crews and mutual aid from all over the country and even Canada and Australia that helping.
ICE has officially suspended routine enforcements and shelters only take names for purposes of knowing who is safe, they can not and simply aren't interested in asking anything about immigration status - life safety is the only goal now.
The amount of volunteers and donations is amazing. Some places have had to turn away volunteers and asked people to stop bringing food.
Can't see any flames or glow from my house currently, although the air quality is very very bad. The public schools, colleges, and universities all around the fires won't be open for students again until next various days next week.
There are a few areas that are being repopulated and those returning residents need to remain vigilant for any safety concerns. Many areas are still under mandatory or advisory evacuation status, such as the entire town of Calistoga.
The official loss of life is 31 and that will probably go up. Still 100's technically missing, although lack of communication has been the main problem and 500+ have been located and are safe.
Still have a long way to go. ❤️
