The top 2 teams in each group will advance to the semifinals

The winner of each semifinal (the 2 finalists) will directly qualify for the World Cup

The loser of each semifinal will compete in a third-place match

The winner of the third-place match will directly qualify for the World Cup

The loser of the third-place match will move on to the inter-confederation play-offs

The 3rd place teams in each group will advance to the fifth-place match
