Both teams made their WWC debuts in this match. Cameroon’s all-time leading scorer, Madeleine Ngono Mani, scored Cameroon’s first ever Women’s World Cup goal in the 34th minute. Gaelle Enganamouit received a long ball, and with a nice first touch, she slotted home Cameroon’s 2nd goal in the 36th minute. In the 44th minute, Ecuador’s Kerlly Real committed a foul on Gabrielle Onguene in the box, where then a PK was converted by captain, Christine Manie. In the 66th minute, Ecuador captain, Ligia Moreira (skip to 0:45) was sent off for her foul. The goals didn’t stop there as in the 73rd minute, Enganamouit slotted home her second goal and the 4th goal of the game from a pass from Onguene. A PK in the 79th minute, awarded to Cameroon because of a handball by Ecuador, was converted by Onguene. In stoppage time, Enganamouit scored her 3rd goal of the game and 6th goal overall as she finished a penalty.
