The Wisdom of a Wolf
[By Caio Reis]
What are the chances that a boy determined to study podiatry suddenly gave a fashion design school a try, only to discover that this was what he was born to do? Probably a few. But that is the story of Pedro Garcia, designer of his own brand Pedro y el Lobo. And, as the name says ("Lobo" means "Wolf" in Spanish), his collections go beyond the concepts of beauty and fierceness.
After the 10th Mustang Fashion Weekend during F.I.B. in 2007, Pedro received a lot of attention and was invited to show his next collection at the Pasarela Abierta 2008 in Murcia.
One of the projects he is most proud about is definitely the costume design for the theatre company La Tristura, which he led for the play Actos de La Juventud. "To create a collection, I try to put a filter to select everything that catches my attention until the point I'm able to see it, to touch it, to smell it. I am a very sensible person towards the types of sensations that surround me."
Among the capes, jackets, hoods, and dresses we are able to see a mixture of textures and juxtapositions of fabrics, signature details of Pedro y el Lobo. It's almost impossible not to think about nature, with its colours and sensations.
As a New Year's resolution, Pedro says that he just wants to present his next collection and keep on learning from it.
