What is Passing Cloud about? :o
Passing Cloud was my take on a “zombie” story but one that was more in the sense of a mass casualty event on a global setting (so yknow a very light easygoing topic) with a couple of stipulations:
-something had happened to the atmosphere where it was now completely blocking out all light & heat from the sun which sunk the planet into complete darkness & perpetual winter as the temperatures plummeted, which also had the secondary effect of wiping out all crops & thereby destroying a lot of plant and farm animal based foods
-every single person was asymptomatically infected & eventually started becoming symptomatic & succumbed entirely if they burned too much fat, ie the “virus” is stored in the fat cells & is released into the body as people starve
-symptoms begin as an alzheimer’s-esque confusion & intense hunger (extremely dangerous for food supplies & the infirm among any group) and progress to rapid brain cell death; it was very common to just let people go to wander the freezing dark where they eventually strip completely, cannibalize their own limbs, & ultimately enact a cousin of hide-and-die syndrome where you’d find their bodies jammed in bizarre places
-some people think it’s whatever was released into the atmosphere that walled it off that also introduced the “virus” into everyone, others think it’s divine punishment, others still chalk it up to government attacks of this country or that country; nobody really can agree on anything & it’s all kind of a moot point anyway
-among the rumors people hear from others is something about the ocean with no context for what the ocean means, ie is military out at the ocean with some kind of sanctuary, did this entire situation somehow come from the ocean, is god at the ocean, is seawater a cure somehow, & so on
