☕ in Korea #22 - Passion 5

No trip to Korea is complete without checking out Passion 5 in Itaewon! 

Passion “5″ = 1. Cafe. 2. Bakery. 3. Patisserie. 4. Chocolate. 5. Passion.

Passion 5 is all of the above! They are located in the SFC building, occupying main floor & 2nd floor. It is a beautiful building really close to Hangangjin Station exit 3, & nearly impossible to miss.

The windows of the building are made up of these semi-darkened glass so you can sort of see inside, but the main eye-catching icon is this lovely chandelier that’s hung outdoors. Be sure to get a photo of/with it~

In regards to the layout of Passion 5, it’s like a 180degree circle so you would enter on one side, & walk through all its parts on the main floor, & you’ll exit on the other side. The entrance/exit face each other. 2nd floor of the place is more for dine-ins, whereas the main floor has all the goods & has limited seating (for quick visits).

The cafe~ they have a variety of teas, coffees, gelato, sandwiches, etc.. .

Entering the bakery. In addition to baked goods, they also have in-house made yogurts & pudding that require refrigeration; therefore, they have a neat oval-shaped fridge for these items.

Castella =] comes in 3 flavours & they’re great for souvenirs or afternoon dessert. I always buy these. .. my fav is the plain honey one.

Eclairs... x many flavours! So pretty, right? I ended up getting one of these - the rose black tea flavour.

Now let’s take a look at their wonderful, beautifully hand-crafted cakes.

Alright, the pricing. It is not cheap! In fact, it’s the one splurge-on-dessert place that I go to. Everything is pricey, in my opinion, but worth the experience, quality is great, & it’s not something I have available in my city =(

12,000 KRW = 13.50 CAD. But look at the details that are completely hand-made!

This was actually one of the more inexpensive fancy cake options at 52,000 KRW (just under $60 CAD). Majority were 55,000 to 70,000 KRW.

It appears as a lemon but the anatomy is an egg.

A good cross-section of the dessert. We have a hard white chocolate shell; very similar to Kinder surprise concept. There’s a layer of cream that’s slightly lemon-y. The filling contains some lemon, tangerine/mandarin (something citrus-y), small bits of dried pineapple, & fresh mint.

If you’re confused as to which building it is, look for this red bird.

.. . back at the hotel room that evening, I cracked open the tiramisu cup :P

Super adorable.

There’s a square piece of dark chocolate & a small flake of gold on top.

Super soft & melt-y. But then I got to a point where my spoon hit something hard. Turned out it was another piece of dark chocolate. Now that’s something different! Wasn’t expecting that in here!

(Modified) cheese cake. I would so buy this if I was able to! But I didn’t feel like spending so much money on a cake I won’t finish in 1.5 days . ..

Honey bread to-go. It really shows their variety here, in my opinion; not everything is like all glam & stuff. I actually really appreciate these quick to-go options they have.

Pre-packaged cookies & nougats.

Again, another example of to-go options, like these croquettes & small danish/pastries. They have both sweet & savoury flavours.

They have a section that’s by “tray & tongs”, so the item is placed (in open air) & you can grab whichever one you want. Besides this mini chocoate mousse cake, other things in this section include: donuts, small breads, creme puffs, brownies.. .

This is perhaps my fav cake, that’s why I’m sharing this photo last. I don’t even know what it is. .. but it’s like shiny & sort of reflective o_O
