every time you post about succession i’m like “should i watch succession?”. i still haven’t but maybe someday i will

succession is so fucking good!! but probably not to everyone’s taste. but i love it so much—i’ve rewatched it all the way through at least 3 times since i first started watching it last summer. 

it’s definitely in line with the types of shows i watch and love but don’t blog a lot about (like mad men!) which works fine for me bc they’re shows i love and enjoy outside of fandom. i have a handful of succession blogs that i follow but i keep it pretty insular. like, i reblog succession content that come across my dash, and sometimes i create my own succession content (as i did during my hyper-fixation phase at the start of quarantine...) but i don’t really go searching for it. 

the pilot is good but it definitely is one of those cases where if i’d stopped at the end of e1 i probably could have been easily distracted and pulled away from the show? my coworker and i watched the pilot together at work one day last summer while doing some mind-numbingly boring task (i think we were stuffing welcome bags for new students...which i now miss doing bc we obv aren’t doing that this year) and when the pilot ended we were just like ‘yeah okay, let e2 start.’ but then we both got INTO IT and i went home and binged the rest of the s1 in like a weekend.

i think i started watching it last summer bc i’d heard mumblings about s1 but then in the weeks leading up to the s2 premiere all these critics i love were raving about the screeners they’d been given. so i binged s1 and then a few weeks later s2 started and this show is definitely a case where i loved s2 more than s1. it’s like. a perfect season of television for me. 

but yeah it’s definitely not a show for everyone. it is very much a show where you need to realize that like ... nobody is morally pure or good. these are all terrible people and sometimes they know it and sometimes they don’t, but they’re fucking fascinating to watch anyway. 

anyway this was a random ramble about how much i love succession and highly recommend to people who are interested in watching it!
