Hello! Idk if you’re still active on this account or not, but a while ago I stumbled across your “String of Pearls” fanart after reading the original book and I have to say that your artwork is fantastic. It’s great to see a fellow fan of the book, especially since it’s been overshadowed by its far more popular musical/film adaptations; it’s one of my favorite books and it sucks that it’s so obscure. Idk if you’re still working on your version or not, but regardless I feel that you’ve done the story and characters justice.
Every now and then, as I drift through my daily routine, I receive a message that really makes my heart grow three sizes. And… because I’ve been so out of the loop with the illustration-side of my being, this is such a wonderful reminder of what I ‘should’ be spending more time on.
I have to mention, that yes! I am still here, but I mainly use this account to ‘lurk’ and watch a changing online landscape. I mainly post between a personal and art account on Instagram now (usernames _Leonapreston and Leonapreston_art). I still get notifications here, so thankfully never miss a beat.
Thank you so much @thyla-scene360, for both the lovely compliments and for expressing appreciation for (agreed), the underrated original String of Pearls. There’s an element of mystery about it that still intrigues me (speaking of its connection to real places in London). I’m not working on my graphic novel anymore, but I do sketch the characters from time to time. 🥹
