pastore and carmen are my 2 bards and both are deliberately designed to look like every lead guitarist in a gay garage band ever. i gotta draw amiri now he's their tech guy, the sound man and stage-builder

pastore! i haven’t drawn him since replacing his dragon so here he is. this was originally wayy more detailed and his coat wasn’t just a brown blob but i completely ran out of steam

unbelievable, once again pastore has a massive wingspan

old!pastore had a ridiculous wingspan too and new!pastore’s wingspan is 21.8m, which is respectable. but this time he’s not a fuckin wraith he’s exactly 13500kg. i’m so happy

ok i’m taking a break now lmao. i might draw edgie but idk 

here’s pastore and his lute is actually probably broken or stolen by cebor really

rich draws the short straw this time. he has tiber and that’s all he cares about, but he knows they’re not going anywhere good and neither cebor nor nirn will give any clue as to what’s going to happen to their captives. once a day the prisoners are let out of their cell, but there’s nowhere they can go - bound magically so that they can’t transform and fly, there’s no way off their flying prison that doesn’t involve jumping to their deaths (which some prisoners have done). 

nirn treats their wounds (mostly faolín’s, she needs a lot of medical help and her spine is Fucked). he’ll go as far as to keep you from dying, nothing more. and nirn seems very busy, too, with some mysterious project at the far end of the flying fortress. sometimes the prisoners can hear agonised screams and strange, furious roars. 

rich, tiber, vaska, pastore, and faolín are kept together, but there are more cells, each a box made of old, dark-stained wood, devoid of light or furniture on the inside. the walls are so think that almost no noise gets through, but the screams and odd sounds still make it in, disturbing the prisoners’ sleep. 

pastore tells stories (he is a bard after all, but his precious lute was confiscated and kept for resale with the other prisoners’ valuables), and he rarely lets his fear show, because he knows that the younger dragons are always five seconds away from totally losing it and it’s up to him to keep everyone motivated. faolín would help, but she can’t do much. she and pastore know that orress and amiri will come looking for them, but as the days drag on it seems increasingly unlikely that the disguised dragonback fortress will be found.

god i should draw pastore again he’s a literal ray of sunlight and the closest thing to a bard i’m going to get. he spent every last gem he had on his shitty lute and he can play some really good songs now. 

lots of people think that pastore is kind of the lighter of the two, since amiri is a horrible no-good trickster, but in fact pastore is.... a gemini. he’s is vain and he will talk your ear off about nothing in particular and he’s hyper-energetic all the time (especially compared to amiri who’s more laid-back) and ready to Go and he can be incredibly petty too when he needs to be

pastore was taken by some unknown force following the destruction of clan fuil darach, and it seems that amiri and orress are in pursuit. flick is staying with delta rn but he misses his dads

never get me started on the charge talk i can’t help it oh god here i go again

an example of a healthy relationship between mutual guardians is pastore and amiri, but it didn’t start off that way. pastore’s personality is so high-energy that he tends to fall into the more overbearing protective style camp, while amiri is much more laidback. early on in their relationship, this caused a lot of problems - pastore was even a little possessive, but it’s kind of understandable since amiri was still recovering from his injuries. pastore could go a bit overboard sometimes, constantly checking up to see if amiri was safe, patrolling their little camp for enemies, and - sometimes - trying to restrict amiri’s freedom for his own good. 

now pastore doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, all he wanted was to keep amiri safe and a lot of his behaviour was unconscious. amiri, meanwhile, could be a little too laid back about the whole thing, sometimes leading pastore to worry excessively that his feelings were not reciprocated. so the two of them had to sit down and have a serious discussion about relationship and guardianship boundaries, what is acceptable and what is not, and how much they could allow their species quirk to interfere with the relationship. once they’d both agreed on a relationship model, things progressed a lot more smoothly, until the new rules simply became second nature to them, the end result being a much happier and healthier relationship

on the other side of the camp there’s luke and serraden. i wouldn’t really call it an unhealthy relationship? it was barely a relationship in the first place. but if serraden hadn’t died, it would have ended badly for both of them. like there wasn’t really anything serraden personally could do to hurt luke’s feelings (they were wayyy past that tbh), but that doesn’t really matter. if rúth had confronted luke, serraden would take the blame (in a guardian-charge way i mean) and experience a touch of i-hurt-my-charge discomfort (not guilt - serraden’s style of guardianship was possessive and uncaring to the extreme and he would never feel guilt over a charge’s hurt feelings). though all this is a lot more minor compared to amiri and pastore since 1. the relationship wasn’t deep or meaningful and 2. luke and serraden hated each others guts
