I feel the need to remind so many Pat Bateman fans that his ass is NOT fulfilling your “uwaaa older men🤤🤤” dreams HE’S NOT EVEN THIRTY—
can we have a word?
is it me or they just made dean smith so pat bateman coded? i mean, look at them, it’s almost the same fit, (and same vibe) in two different times.
that’s it.
American Psycho is the craziest book I've ever read.
I am only 30 pages in and I already feel so bad for Patrick. I'd kms if I lived in that world. Like honey, maybe you're not an evil psychopath, maybe your friends just suck and you're incredibly isolated and have no outlets for your emotions so you have chosen to not feel. Even ur gf doesn't understand you or even hear you when you cry out for help.
And the Oscar Wilde esque writing style the author uses pisses me off. It's even worse than Oscar Wilde tho bc it's listing off retarded ass brands that I don't know nor care about. I'm literally picturing nothing in my head because I don't know what that means. But I respect the dedication to the obsession. I understand this is Patrick's pov so it's gonna be insane and obsessive and focused on brands because to him that represents status and that's all that matters to him.
It's a hard read is what I'm saying. Language wise it's simplistic and almost insultingly casual but bruh. I haven't even mentioned the misogyny either but that's a whole other thing. 30 pages.
But I love the bounce between "I've counted 24 homeless bums- that's 25!!" And then boom, a bus with a Les Mis advertisement. And the bus with the graffiti over Eponine that says dyke is brilliant in itself. That whole fucking musical and the only thing you take away from it is the woman who literally lays her life down for a man she's infatuated with dressed like a man and bound her chest so she's a dyke. Beautiful imagery. And Patrick's performative politics spiel at the hangout is awesomely tone deaf and centrist. Giving PC principal.
I can also tell the author is gay.
I need help. The American Psycho hyperfixation is taking over my skin, I keep rambling to people about American psycho, someone help , AAAAAAAAUGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH
If Patrick Bateman (American Psycho) was in Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire and was arrested for his crimes, would he join the Night’s Watch aka take the black?
Yes, voluntarily
Yes, but only to avoid their original punishment
Yes, because this character was encouraged to do so by someone else
Yes, for a unique reason I came up with (feel free to share in the comments)
No, this character accepts their original punishment
(OP note: for the sake of this poll, assume all the crimes he committed in the movie/book were real)
In my latest fanfiction, I wrote about Patrick Bateman calling Paul Allen a good boy. This is what I was referring to.
This is taken from the fourth draft of the movie script. You can read it here.
We were absolutely robbed. WE COULD HAVE HAD THIS IN THE MOVIE!!! I think about this scene so often, I love when their dynamic is portrayed in this manner. Anyways, I love pathetic men so much.
