#patch and the magic train

Here’s some art for my upcoming webcomic, “Patch & the Magic Train”. It’s a story about an engineer who helps a princess get her magic train back to the kingdom. In order to reach the kingdom, the protagonists have to cross a mountain guarded heavily by a dragon. The project is inspired by many styles and aesthetics from the 60s.

Telling Jokes, Patch & the Magic Train mini comic.

Yes, this joke is awful, but my own sense of humor is no better. This was really made to experiment with backgrounds and practice hand drawing lettering. Since I’m about to dive into the main comic, I need to make heads or tails of whether or not want to type or hand-write dialogue. I think I did pretty well this go around. The trick was to just write slower and take my time.

Personally, I like the idea of Snagglepuff and Jonesy being friends. They do have a lot in common, like being obnoxious, greedy, and enjoying the misfortune of others.

Princess Mirabelle and Patch and the Magic Train belong to @gal-ghoul I've been wanting to draw this adorable character ever since I saw her design and hope some fanart of her is welcome! I tried to make it look like she's an illustration in a storybook :)

A couple of sketched progressions of my comic. It’s been a painfully slow couple of months, and I’m working as hard (and quickly) as I can with this project. Feels like every time I have even a slither of time for this thing fifty million things are thrown at me. Despite this, I’m glad I have at least some time with this project. It truly does make me enjoy art again.
